This problem began, for me, with the vBulletin software change. I like many things about this new system, especially the improved navigational options. There's one thing, though, that's getting on my last nerve.

In the past, I've inserted graphics directly into my posts and they've displayed just fine. The graphics I've inserted since the software upgrade, however, display for me only when I'm logged in. When I log out, I see the name of the graphic file in place of the graphic image, itself. I've tried this with 2 different graphics, so far, with the same results. This holds true whether I insert the graphic from the URL direct link from photobucket (as I've always done in the past), or if I insert it directly from my computer. I've tried both these methods using both Firefox and Internet Explorer. The graphics I inserted prior to the vBulletin change still display properly whether I'm logged in or not.

So why am I getting different results when I'm doing the exact same thing I've always done? I conclude it's due to the vBulletin change. But other Rudies don't seem to have this problem, at least not that I'm aware of. Their graphics still appear just fine to me whether I'm logged in or not. This includes those posts done since the change.

Can someone please help? This matters to me.

Thanks!

When you placed your image (from URL), did you leave the box checked that says something like "retrieve image remotely and reference locally" ?

Don't know if that could be anything to do with it... try placing it again and not checking the box. Does everyone's posted graphics look like that to you, or is it just your own?

I don't know, that's just a guess on my part.

another guess...can you see other graphics when you're not logged on? I've noticed before (with the old software) that some photo attachment links only show up if I'm logged on. Are you always inserting graphics through a host program? Just "spit wadding" here...someone may come along who actually knows the answer! jm

Okay, here's another test, this time using Mary's suggestion.

Joan, I do see other people's graphics when I'm not logged on. Know what you mean about the photo attachments with the old software, but that wasn't it.

Mary, that did the trick - exactly!

You two are both great; thanks so much! Also, unchecking that box also fixed another problem where my graphics always came in teeny-tiny, regardless of original size, regardless of my photobucket settings. (Figured the two problems were related.)

Can't tell you how happy I am! (It's good to appreciate the small things in this life, isn't it.) :)
