This is an interesting read...
I was most impressed with the study that found that ten percent of the Americans polled believed Joan of Arc was Noah's wife. And that many (they did not give a percentage) even thought the epistles were the wives of the apostles.
I actually laughed out loud when I read that! ;)

Although, I'm not quite sure what's so wrong about people who pranced around the statues of Aphrodite and Diana. :p

LOL!
Thanks for posting this, Andrea. I've read about half so far and will save the rest for another time.
One thought that came to mind so far is that I've said for years that Jesus had nothing to say about homosexuality but it’s usually to people who refuse to hear it. Guess it’s true that some folks who call themselves Christian obviously have no clue what the Bible says about the one they “allegedly” worship. It would be nice if they would actually find out, but then you know, trying to change the mind of a bigot is rather like trying to get the wet out of water.

A very impressive piece, and exhaustingly researched. If only bigots could miraculously grow attention spans.
Semi-relevantly, I had always believed that Samuel Johnson wrote "even the Devil can cite Scripture to his own purpose". Such moments always give me pause....how many other things do I believe that are not true?
Very sad that the people who need to ask that question most are those who ask it least.

very interesting indeed. I've often said that although the bible may have been "dictated" by God, it was written by man, who, out of fear will change things to their comfort level. And the Fact that Christians can be so overzealous about the abomination of homosexuality has always confused me, because these are people who are supposed to follow the teaching of Christ, not the old testament. Third, I've always thought, how can people really know what was originally written in the bible, when it was written in so many different langauges, many of which have changed greatly over the century's. Last Christians are supposed to teach of God's love and understanding, and NOT to judge.
