OK this is a kinda short one. Saturday night, Mom's here for dinner. I asked her what she was wearing to church tomorrow (figured we'd concentrate on her clothes instead of mine...) and she told me which outfit. (It's the one she's worn a lot this winter and the primary color is black.) I suggested since it's spring and Easter she might want to wear something lighter and brighter. Then I offered (hey am I learning or what?) to help her pick out something when I took her back to her place. I just told her she had to remind me. (She loves it when she gets that reminder role.)
As we were leaving the house she reminded me and I thanked her. As we were driving to her place (all of 3 miles) she reminded me a couple more times then said "I guess you want to be proud of me." I replied, "Mom, I'm always proud of you." She looked at me and smiled and said, "I know it..." She paused then added, "and it gives me the shivers...good shivers...like when you can't believe how lucky you are."
Hey..is she a keeper or what?
Inquiring minds can check back tomorrow, I'll take my camera and get a picture of Mom to post. jm

That touches my heart deeply. I don't got a mommy..... But when I did, she was proud of me. Still wonder why....
She's quite a babe, Joan! Keep her.
Elliott, all mothers are proud of their offspring...well, you'd have to be a serial killer for them not to be, I guess...but they'll still love you!

Love your "Mom" stories. As I always say to Beth, "you need to write them down for a book"!
Joan, your relationship with your Mom is heartwarming. I think you're both keepers! :)

And the lipstick! Don't forget the lipstick!!
I had not scrolled down far enough to see what you had written, and I was thinking, "My GOD! her blouse looks like the chair!!" :p (but I wasn't going to say anything!)
She looks lovely, of course!

I bet she picked the chair because it matched the outfit...very savvy lady!
The gorgeous bouquet doesn't have to match anything!

Kath, you're repeating yourself.
Everyone else, I'm glad to share Mom with you. Yesterday I spoke with the daughter of Mom's best friend (daughter and I have been friends since I was in jr high, her Mom passed on this December) and we had such fun remembering our Moms together. I also told her the lipstick story from start to finish and she laughed her butt off. Good times, good memories. Here's a picture of Mom and Dr. Mary.

I took Mom to CA to visit Dr. Mary a couple of summers ago. I wouldn't trade that trip for the world although it certainly had its "mom moments"...like when she got up to go to the john even though the seatbelt light was on and when I tried to get her to sit down, using logic - silly me - she told me no one would stop an old lady when she has to go and she'd traveled tens of thousands of miles and never hit an air pocket and she wasn't about to hit one now. Then when we missed our connection at DFW our new gate kept being moved and we were driven in a cart from one gate to another and since no one was getting out of the way Mom used her cane like a cow catcher to shoo people out of the way..and the cart driver was encouraging her...but I digress jm
OMG, Joan..you've GOT to write a book! A vignette on every page, shiny stock, with a photo opposed...it would sell like hotcakes! Better than Beatrix Potter!
