Yep, here's what happens when you attempt to get rid of a dead whale carcass using 20 cases of dynamite. Nice to know that once upon a time, public works personnel did have a quirky sense of humor. And were trusted with dynamite, besides.

Actually, I did, at first. But then I started thinking about the mentality behind the whole thing: "OK, we've got this big smelly thing and we can't move it....so let's blow it up". And I am still giggling, for possibly pathological reasons.

There is also the fact that my favorite line from the "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" TV series is "Whale meat". And I have a t-shirt which reads: "there is no problem which cannot be solved with the sufficient application or high explosives". Mind, it never occurred to me that whales and high explosives would ever have any sort of connection.

I do wish the soundtrack to the film had been just a little bit clearer.....you can hear some of the bits and pieces landing but being there must surely have been far intense.

As it happens, I recall a fellow blowing up dead carp with M-80s, back when you could get such things. Thought he was rather sick at the time, actually. It's all a question of scale.
