Singer Phoebe Snow suffered a brain hemorrhage at her home Tuesday and has undergone emergency surgery, her manager said.

Doctors for the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter said that the surgery went well, and Snow was hospitalized Thursday in intensive care at an undisclosed location, manager Sue Cameron added.

"It is too early to assess any residual motor damage, and we are taking it day-by-day, but doctors are hopeful for a complete recovery," Cameron said.

Snow's "Poetry Man," released in 1975, was her first huge hit. The two-time Grammy Award nominee has released 16 albums; her most recent was "Phoebe Snow Live" in 2008.

Snow, 58, does about 50 concerts a year in the U.S., Cameron said

Oh dear. I hope Phoebe pulls through. One of my favourite singers. A week of bad news. First Kate McGarrigle dies and now this happens to Phoebe Snow.

This is sad news indeed.... Phoebe is one of my favorites. I fell in love with her music about the same time I discovered Janis. I'm lighting a candle. I've never seen her perform live... I'm very sad about this.

Phoebe is one of my favorites, as well, and has been for a very long time. Rudie vibes and hopes for the best.

Prayers and healing thoughts for a complete recovery and if not 100 percent at least recovered to whatever extent makes Phoebe thrilled to be alive and able to enjoy life! Seems like her music has been around forever, even though she's younger then me!

So very sad, and many prayers will be said in PA for her recovery. I absolutely adore her version of "Let the Good Times Roll"! :(

Oh Phoebster

Here she is singing a song originally inspired for the loss of her mother.
I'm You're Girl from her 1989 album SOMETHING REAL. (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/1095548/a/Something+Real.htm)

and in 2008 it became You're My Girl. A song for her daughter who had passed.
