Some of you know that I have re-connected with a dear (not too old ;) ) friend from childhood who is now one of our newer Rudies. We saw each other for the first time in over 36 years for the Elyria and Kent, OH Janis concerts. We also got to jam a bit in between concerts....(ask Karen and Terrie/Stardust!)

This past week, Ty aka Ty_Riann came for a week's visit from the Niagara Falls area. We got together with another Rudie (not on the board but a Rudie none-the-less)! A few of you who have "Friends of Pearl II the cd will be familiar with Jamie Fota. I played drums with her and am on 3 cuts from that cd with her. So I knew the 2 of them would hit it off and be a great musical duo...and I was right! Instant rapport both friendship-wise and musically. Their voices and guitar playing were outstanding! We ate, drank and slept music all day all week long! We played some of Jamie's original songs, some of Ty's and some cover tunes. In 5 days (or less), we recorded EIGHTEEN songs! Now these are what we consider "work cds." Not available for release but they sound pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I got to accompany on drums, congas and other percussion. On New Year's Eve, Jamie had a party and we treated guests for and hour or so (Bat says 2 hours but I disagree! ;)

Now we are compiling a list of more songs for our next get-together. Don't know when that will be but it WILL happen. We will be including some Janis covers as well. What are we going to do with this? I don't know but when you take a couple of very talented women, each who play great guitar, each who can sing lead or harmony, each who can sing high or low vocals and blend superbly....you have something very unique!! Stay tuned. Oh, and here is a picture of us after our concert.

Gee hearing this from you Marica sure warms my heart. Music is good medicine, if not for the body at least for the spirit. You friend Jamie Fota sure looks familiar. Could I have met her at a Janis Ian concert? Can't wait for the day when we get to hear some of the great music that came from this meeting of old friends.

I don't THINK you would have seen Jamie at a concert unless you are talking about the early days...1970s most likely.....I have the 18 cuts that we recorded this week but I am not sure that I am supposed to be making them available. It was "just" a practice cd. At a later date, the dream is to make a real studio recording. I will ask the other 2/3 of the trio how they feel about my sharing a song or 2 with a few Rudies.....

Marcia :D PS Yes, playing music again has been the best medicine I have received in years!!!

I have not had sooooooo much fun in I can't tell you how long. We played music for 5 days, for at least 8 hours each day and more on a few days. This was my first time really seeing Marcia in action behind her drums. That gal really knows her stuff!!! Great job Marcia!

Marcia has also been the catalyst and inspiration to get me back to my own music in addition to playing tunes with her and Jamie. Thank you Marcia for re-lighting a fire in my musical heart.

Wow Ty. Thank you very much for your very kind words. I can't remember ever having a more "inspired" musical week, getting the chance to work with such talented women as Jamie and yourself. What the three of us have discovered is too good not to keep going.....wouldn't you agree? Now what do we DO about it?! :D

I am also glad (understatement) that I have given you that "nudge" to get back to your music again. It is too good not to be heard, as are you.
Love ya gal!

Marcia :)
