Some of you know that I have re-connected with a dear (not too old ;) ) friend from childhood who is now one of our newer Rudies. We saw each other for the first time in over 36 years for the Elyria and Kent, OH Janis concerts. We also got to jam a bit in between concerts....(ask Karen and Terrie/Stardust!)
This past week, Ty aka Ty_Riann came for a week's visit from the Niagara Falls area. We got together with another Rudie (not on the board but a Rudie none-the-less)! A few of you who have "Friends of Pearl II the cd will be familiar with Jamie Fota. I played drums with her and am on 3 cuts from that cd with her. So I knew the 2 of them would hit it off and be a great musical duo...and I was right! Instant rapport both friendship-wise and musically. Their voices and guitar playing were outstanding! We ate, drank and slept music all day all week long! We played some of Jamie's original songs, some of Ty's and some cover tunes. In 5 days (or less), we recorded EIGHTEEN songs! Now these are what we consider "work cds." Not available for release but they sound pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I got to accompany on drums, congas and other percussion. On New Year's Eve, Jamie had a party and we treated guests for and hour or so (Bat says 2 hours but I disagree! ;)
Now we are compiling a list of more songs for our next get-together. Don't know when that will be but it WILL happen. We will be including some Janis covers as well. What are we going to do with this? I don't know but when you take a couple of very talented women, each who play great guitar, each who can sing lead or harmony, each who can sing high or low vocals and blend superbly....you have something very unique!! Stay tuned. Oh, and here is a picture of us after our concert.
