I'm watching 'The Susan Boyle Story' on UKTV; she just sang 'I am who I was born to be' (written especially for her), and the tears came.

and a duet with Elaine Paige - her idol

I didn't know that had been written for her, Wendy. I just imagined it eas chosen for her first CD because it could have been. In any case it's a good one for her.

She has certainly turned her whole self around...looks, fame, everything!
I say she is a bright light in our lives, proving that it really is never too late if you've got the right stuff, and she surely seems to! Bravo, Susan!!

When I first heard it Dee, I thought "how apt - it could have been written especially for her" but didn't realise it was until I saw this TV special. I thought it might have been from a musical, but couldn't figure out which one.

Lucille, thank you for posting this and attaching the website, always fun to visit these. I, too, love Susan Boyle, her style, her voice, her tone, her pitch and her essence.

Do you or anyone else know where I can find the words of her song "I Am Who I Was Born To Be"? Can you tell me if they are in her new C.D.?
I am hearing impaired and until I read and memorize the words I can not
hear them within a song. By the way, thanks to Janis for her written
words that accompany her C.D's., I know she incurs extra labor and expense
in her album production. Communication is so important and I expend
much effort in the hearing and listening end of it, so Janis's extra help is much appreciated.

You are in my heart, p

The song she sings with Elaine Paige, (I know Him So Well), is from the musical 'Chess'. I know this because it's one of my roommate's favorite songs and I know it too well.

Patti, try this link for the lyrics to Who I Was Born to Be:

Well, it seems the lady who runs the boarding house in which I live might just be a smart ass... but she's a sweet smart ass, and man, can she bang out a tune on a guitar. She's really amazing! And I thought I knew her so well! :p

For you Patti P.:

Susan Boyle Who I Was Born to Be Lyrics:

When I was a child
I could see the wind in the trees
and I heard a song in the breeze
it was there, singing out my name

But I am not a girl
I have known the taste of defeat
and I have finally grown to believe
it will all came around again

[Chorus:]
And though I may not
know the answers
I can finally say I am free
And if the questions
led me here, then
I am who I was born to be

And so here am I
Open arms and ready to stand
I've got the world in my hands
And it feels like my turn to fly

[Chorus]

When I was a child
there were flowers that
bloomed in the night
Unafraid to take in the light
Unashamed to have braved the dark

[Chorus]

I am who I was born to be
I am who I was born to be.

:)Thank you Greener and Jim in Chatt., I so appreciate your
efforts in providing the Lyrics. To me, the words are
everything and I can also appreciate a good melody, but when
they are mixed and often the music overpowers the words, I am lost.

When I watch a performer and I can not hear the words, this thought
comes to me:

I see your lips move fast,
past where I'm at,
like hit and run charity,
Could it be, please,
You've nothing to say?

Again, thanks, you are in my heart, patti
