Thanks to Facebook, I recently found my first love and we just talked on the phone tonight for the first time in about 25 years. She's the reason I could never personally relate to Janis' song. We were in love at 17, I wasn't even interested in going to the prom, and we both played on the basketball team.
Then, add in a little Society's Child because she was black and her mother stopped us from seeing each other, but that was probably less about the color of my skin and more about the fact that I was female, Now, add in You Don't Know My Heart because we used to meet in the dark at the park.
So I told her all of this tonight and she's a Janis fan too, so she got it! She lives in Kansas so we won't be seeing each other any time soon, but the bond was still there....there's nothing like that first love.

Looks like I'll be house hunting soon... at least everything's on sale right now! ;)
At least wait till you see a U-Haul coming up the driveway Elliott. :p
Glad to hear that you made a reconnection with your first love, Andy!

As wonderful as my first love was, the one that made my heart dance and flutter, made me sit on the telephone for hours... Made me sneak out the window at 3am and cross the cornfields in the dark..... As warm and special as that love was to me.... It couldn't hold a candle to what I have now.... Nope, I'll stick wit' me Betty of today over a dream from so long ago:)
Just my opinion:)
A very Blessed R from Pa.

I wouldn't call this a reconnecion, more like keeping tabs on them - who came up with that any way "tabs"? But since my daughter posts on Facebook or Myspace for her group of friends I peek there every so often....Like she had some type of music/musician video there....so I got her something similar for Christmas and she has no idea how I found out what to get her.
Take care..

P.S. I met a girl I remembered from Grade School many years later and it was...shall I say strange....she seemed to be in some space or place.....didn't seem to be with it. Oh well!

Wow, what a great story, Andy! You're right, there's nothing like that first love. The memories, the extreme emotions, the music of the time...

Ah, First Love! My sister just told me about seeing a guy we knew about 42 yrs ago. She says she doesn't understand it that after all these years when ever she him he says "How is Darlene?". It doesnt matter what's going on in the world it the same thing. When she told me this I got this strange smile on my face (or that's what she call it). I am smiling and remembering the innocent sweet love we shared. So what's up with that? she says. I try to explain to her about that sweet love we had when we were 13. We lived about 18 miles from each other and would write letters to each other almost every day (I still have those letters). Those letter were so sweet they were just about things that were going in our lives. Every few months we would get to see each other and for 2 weeks in the summer we both camped at the same campground. Oh the memories... he did kiss me a total of two times but those two times ..sigh! My sister says "well what happened? that you all broke up?". We were both just kids with a whole life ahead of us. I sit here right now with a silly smile on my face remembering a wonderful little boy who loved me with all his heart. I loved him too. So when ever someone tells me that they saw Jerry and he asks them about me, it makes me feel so good to know that there is a sweet little boy who loved me so much all those years ago. Thanks for the memories, Jerry!
