Janis you mean much much more to us because we let you into our hearts!

Talking about strings, check out Janis re-stringing her beloved black performance guitar - preparing for the DVD special we all have been just receiving.

I still get goosebumps just thinking about it! The only Christmas gifts I bought this year were 4 of the Grand Center DVD's to give to 3 of my Janis' fan friends and an extra for yours truly.

I just can't get the image of Janis going barefoot in Tennessee out of my mind. It sure is a good thing she never was tempted to shop lift a pair of socks. (Or maybe she thought about it and we just don't know) Imagine her getting nabbed for that?
So that will never ever happen to Janis I am considering sending her some socks...but they can't be just any ordinary socks.....please give me some suggestions....also what size should I get?

P.S. Post pictures if you gottem

You really are a strange person.

Razal,
Have you read Janis's autobiography? She couldn't even afford a pair of socks during one of the low periods in her life - was she exaggerating?
I know Janis likes to wear interesting clothing - have you seen the shoes she likes to wear? They are pretty coool! In fact I saw some coool shoes she might like to wear after her concerts - but have to get the right size. But she still needs to get some coool socks.
Razal do you wear socks - are your socks ordinary or do you buy a special pair every now and then - perhaps to go with a suit for an interview or special socks to wear when running or cycling.
So if discussing the "mundane" sometimes is "wierd" then count me in because the mundane is all around us - you have been conditioned by all the BS to not discuss it - yet there are all those ads so you will buy mundane stuff.
I would go on...but you get the point....so who isn't a little strange in their own way? Ever wonder what your pet thinks of you - do you have a pet Razal?

P.S. Is there still time to nominate me for the "weirdest" poster for a Jimmie award - please do so.

Sorry Tim, but you don't have a chance against me in that non-catagory. And I think Janis has plenty of socks now. However, I have a bag of hand knitted socks, various sizes, and I must admit, it would be fun to send them to Janis. Oh, don't tell Greener, I'm only supposed to take the ones I want. I happen to want all of them, that's all.

Unfortunately, there is no time left to nominate you, and although it wasn't really on my mind to do so, had I thought of it, I might have!

Yes, Tim, I have a pet....however he is normally a little aloof, I suppose by choice...however, when I returned from a recent trip, he had lost all his normal reserve and was ecstatic that I was home...he couldn't help himself:D

Discussing mundane stuff isn't weird, at least I don't think so....and I like interesting clothing including socks...

Yep. Janis likes interesting footwear. In fact, I once went to a concert in the early 80's where she was wearing these little elf-like shoes the kind with the turned up toes....it provided chuckles..

Yes, of course, I read her autobiography...what kind of self-respecting jimb member would I be?! And of course, I remember the part about the socks being meaningful at a low point in their lives; but what I took away from that reading was how the appreciation of a pair of socks emphasized the financial hardship at that time. I haven't really dwelt on that nor have I had a problem getting that out of my mind....as Elliot says, I think she has enough socks now....

As for strange, yes, we are all a bit strange....
There is funny & wacky strange, interesting strange, and then there is of course, dangerous and frightening strange....

So, if the shoe fits, wear it...(sorry I couldn't resist)

So does anyone know or have a good guess (having stared at Janis's feet) what shoe size she is? I'm thinking of Agora socks - I hear good things about them. And I saw the neatest gypsy boot style slippers that will look perfect on a jewish Grandmother. But to be truthful I always envision Janis as pictured on her Stars album. but I hope she likes these shoes provided I can determine her size.
Perhaps Ii will include a gift certificate for a pedicure with th shoes so her feet are in perfect order for the new socks and shoes.

Tim, I had a special pair of shoes for Janis, and asked her about size, I knew i was close when i had them made. She told me she needs to have her shoes specially made for her feet and that sending shoes would probably end up being wasted because of this. Send her a nice book, she will always be happy with that. I hope this helps

Soft cover mysteries are great gifts...Janis asks that we do not give her hard cover books.

Elliott

Great, now you tell me. The only book I ever gave Janis was a big hardcover. But the book had not yet been made into softcover so maybe it didn't matter as much. I think I remember that Janis recycles or leaves her read books in hotel rooms for others. I think that's sweet. By the way, don't ever loan me a book; when I'm done with them, most look like the dead sea scrools. Especiallly in Summer. Random thoughts, by E.

Hoops,
"Been there done that already" Hoops. I gave Janis three books - one was a Seinfeld book which is quite funny. Janis has a connection to Seinfeld - even if only a string or a thread. Because she is a writer - books & music, I also gave her a book on authors talking about writing. Last I gave her a book by a local author - just published - where she was performing! And as a bonus, cause I am sure she still has one - an old VCR movie - A Walk On The Moon.
You'll just have to watch it to figure out why it might connect with Janis!
I'm glad I haven't creeped you out Hoops. Thank you for the headsup about Janis having her shoes custom fit - she is so special. I just figured she wore a small size since she is so tiny. For those persons who thought I was weird, creeping them out etc. perhaps they should go to a Janis performance and hang around afterward. Janis' shoes are quite "noticeable" and nobody is making fun of Janis for wearing them. I certainly am not that is for sure. I think her shoes are coooolllll - almost as coooollllll as Janis herself!
So Hoops I think I will just stick to socks since they usually fit several sizes and just go with a small women's range.
HAS ANYONE OUT THERE BESIDES MYSELF SHOPPED FOR A PAIR OF SOCKS BEFORE? There are dress socks, sports socks, etc. I'm thinking something causual for around the house - something Janis can wear to inspire her writing - or socks that are useful for cuddling (picture that how you will).
Take care all you Rudies and especially you Hoops. Now since Kathleen has the most things Janis in her collection maybe she might have something to add to this bare footed thread.
I love ya all - even those who think I am creepy or weird - just remember we never know what our pets think of us!
P.S. It isn't politically correct to point guns at kitties - just ask that ex Washington Bullets player (Team isn't even allowed to mention his name anymore - even took down all his banners, etc.) Hint to a rudie!
........and people say I'm creepy and strange!

Tim, think around size 7 1/2. I like different kinds of socks, I would think comfy socks would be a nice gift. most people like to oick their own "work" or "dress" socks. Besides a comfy thought is always a good one. Oh, if by pointing a gun at an animal, you mean Marjan's avatar...it's kind of a tradition of cuteness. it's not the gun and the cat, it's the seeming reaction and how adorable it actually is. Marjan, has many lovely(cute as heck) cat avatars.

Coffeegyrl,
In case you didn't notice - I started this thread - so I thought I have license to be myself and not superficial. Try a couple cubes of sugar - that will sweeten you up.
But you are welcome to open up more.
Instead of those expensive meds simply try turmeric spice on your meats and veggies. Also try 8 oz of Welches grape juice mixed with a teaspoon of white vinegar about an hour before bed time. That lowered mine and then to keep BP low I started exercising regularly - stretching can suffice to start.
Hoops I am going to go with your suggestion.
But I am worried about a post - do you think Janis reads these books to relax while traveling (between gigs) and then leaves them in hotels - like those Bible people - the Gideons? Oh my!

P.S. My Crown Tail Betta thinks I am "Grrrrreattttt" today because he got fresh water and a live aquatic plant to checkout.:D
