What a day! Today, I received Karen's beautifully-done embroidered "I'd Rather Be at a Janis Ian Concert" signed T-shirt and embroidered, personalized blankie. OMG Karen, I do LOVE them both! The workwomanship exceeded even my high expectations and the colors are just perfect. Thank you so much! :)

Are there any special washing instructions for safeguarding the embroidery and Janis's signature?

I don't think KS2 even knows how much she rocks... but she does, and she's pretty and sweet two!! ;)

You are all just too sweet for words!

Sara, I just wash almost everything in cold water, and dry on low. As far as the signature (doesn't yours have 2?), try going over it with an iron. They are done in Sharpie, so they should be OK. I'm so glad you like them!

...from Joan yesterday. Love the 'Songs for Pearl II' - congratulations all yews involved in it. AND I just love Cheryl Wheeler. As they would say over here, she is a real dag:D I would love to see her live one day. What a hoot. Also, thank you for the transfers. Wow, what a great auction result for me.

Glad you liked the CDs and stickers Wendy. Here's a link to an animated version of Cheryl's My Cat's Birthday (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4jTFQRDr0I&feature=PlayList&p=451D8E1D6303AF79&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=33) . Cheryl did a vhs video quite a few years ago that's classic Cheryl but it's very hard to find. I'll see if I can find one of my "digital backups". jm

Don't you roll those eyes at me, young lady! (I always hated when my parents called me "young lady." Consequently, I never said it to my 2 girls!) And just tap that foot all you want, 'cause you'll get your shirt when I get it done! (prolly the next couple of days...) :o

Yes, mother!!! Well, when my shirt DOES arrive, I'll watch my Live at the Grand Center again, with my shirt ON, and pretend I'm at a Janis Ian conc... oh wait!

I loves you, too, Karen!! http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-hug008.gif

This year's auction makes me remember last year at this time. I was new to the board, I bid on this 12-string guitar belonging to some guy named Elliott who turned out to be a rather nice, interesting fellow and I made a new friend. Throughout the year I met lots of rudies, went to 8 Janis concerts, and so much more....now the JIMB and its inhabitants are a part of my everyday life. Cool! One rudie, the nice (but admittedly a bit strange), guy now lives in my house.

I've recieved almost all that I bid on this year. Yesterday, I received the beautiful and expertly packed guitar from Joan, along with the FINB songbook, a guitar strap and a copy of the Pearl CD. Before that, I received the 92St Y Cd from Mary and the items form Janis, a tuner, a capo set and a CD, followed by the shipment from the Holiday sale. One more to go...but it's coming from the Netherlands, so no hurry there.

Anyway, life is good and much much fuller for having been a part of the world of Janis Ian. Thank you all for the parts you have played in that and I look forward to sharing a fabulous, fun-filled 2010 with you.

Wishing you all a holiday filled with peace, love and gratitude.

A moving post that means a lot to me. You and I joined about the same time. Though I haven't had the pleasure of meeting lots of Rudies in person, I too consider this a home. I've corresponded with some and, simply from reading posts, feel like I've gotten to know and like others here. You are one, Andy.

The auction items and Janis order, while extraordinary, are icing on the cake. (Is this now a food thread? :)) While I don't necessarily post each and every day, I feel very much at home here among others of like mind. Looking forward, too, to a 2010 made richer by being a part of this community. Happy holidays, one and all!

December 24th.....I was heading out to see a movie - Blind Side or Avatar...and the mailman was coming to my house...I always wave to him like we have been friends for a long, long time. I figure the mailman and I sort of our friends since he knows so much about me, vicariously, by the mail he brings to me. I saw he had a tube under his arm with the other mail. So I pulled back into the driveway...and there was my special....autographed poster from the auction....."To Timothy - Janis Ian".

Hey Karensews2 - don't put your needle down just yet....do you remember the "Fly Too High" shirt I e-mailed you about...oops...I shouldn't have posted about it here....cause once word gets out it will be a must have for all her Rudies and your poor little fingers will never get a break!!!

A special blessing for KarenSews2!

I believe that if Karen ever decided to start a side business, making shirts and other embroidered specialty items to order, she'd have a thriving enterprise filling orders for Rudies, alone. But then again, Karen needs a life, too! ;)

Got my guitar tuner today - thanks Janis, and thanks for the extra picks. This was to be an Xmas present, but I did explain it couldn't be sent until the 17th, so it would be now a suprise New Year gift.
