Has anyone been watching this on PBS? I get a kick out of seeing all the old acts. Tonight so far they have showed the Beach Boys, the Mammas and the Pappas, the Four Seasons, and Petula Clark. When the Mammas and Pappas and the Four Seasons were performing, the instruments were not plugged in to any amplifiers. I guess they were just playing unplugged and there was an offstage band that was playing along. There were also no visible microphones. I assume they were above the performers out of the camera frame. They couldn't have been - horror of horrors - lip synching - could they?
I am curious about what the state of amplification technology was at that time?

In addition to seeing and hearing these acts I grew up with, I get a kick out of the sets and the hysterically awful outfits everyone wore.

Yes, I have turned onto it a couple times in the past weeks... all at different spots.... so I guess I've seen most of it. Yes, it is fun to watch some of that old production on those shows.

Weren't The Supremes glamorous?

Surely, our Janis Ian would not have been found in such awful attire? Janis has always looked pretty good to me in her mini-skirts.

Happy holidays (especially Janis, Pat, & Rudies) - whatever your faith may be!

Loved seeing Mama Cass in her go-go boots be-bopping on the stage with Michelle Phillips stiff as a board next to her. Brings a smile to the face everytime!

And how about Herman's Hermits? Peter Noone was so young and looked like he was having a ball!
