Some of you know that my older daughter, Bailey, is in college and working toward multiple degrees plus the added duties of a dorm RA.
She applied for some Bill Blass scholarships. One was for summer interns, but she did her internship LAST summer, and this is the 1st year for this scholarship. She was permitted to apply, and she got the whole $1,000! She got 1/2 ($250) of a Design Potential scholarship, as well!
Last night was the annual fashion show, and 4 of her things were in it. She modeled a pullover hoodie vest that she designed, and a corset. Others modeled her tutu and a dress.
Bustin' my buttons, and just wanted to share.

I was in Bloomington last evening for a concert (more on that, later), and, afterwards, took Bailey some cookies that I had baked. She was on duty at the center desk of her dorm, so we didn't get to visit much. As soon as she saw me, she grinned and went to the other side of the office to get the jacket she has been working on all semester. It's all done but the shoulder pads, lining, and sleeve buttons. It is a FULLY tailored jacket, and there's crap in there that I have never even HEARD of!!! I have never learned any tailoring, and I'd like to KEEP it that way, thank you very much!! The sad thing is, all that work gets covered up by the lining, so it's never seen! She said she's taken pics, though.
When she was home for spring break, she was deciding on buttons, and was leaning to very large assymetrical ones. I advised against them because she is rather small, and large buttonholes can get out of hand and look messy. Last week she said she was glad she hadn't listened to me because the buttons looked "amazing." She was right. They look great. What do I know??!!
