For over 2 hours, I've been trying to get my new little notbook hooked in to our wireless. Called Comcast. They tell me to call Linsys. Phillipino is very helpful to a point, then I have to call Comcast again. Guy at Comcast does some voodoo, and now I'm waiting for a call from the Phillippines (I can never remember how to spell that...) /Linksys. At least they are successfully hiding the laughter...

Nope, razal, I think it has to do with the router, because I have internet when I wire it.

The Filipino was supposed to call me back 6 hours ago! hmmmm

Not to, in any way, make light of your plight, Karen, but I think, in your frustration, you missed Razal's point? How NOT like you! ;)

Good luck solving the problem. Really!

LOL, razal! I guess I was so frustrated I didn't proof. And sometimes I type letters, and the 'puter decides whether they should appear or not! ;)

Not to worry, my computer does that too, Karen!!! I hope you got it working so that I can consult with you when I decide to go wireless and set up one of those "little notbooks"!:)

No, "Dennis" did not call me back. BTW, don't you love it when you get the people on the phone from India or the Phillipines and they have names like "Amanda," "Joe," etc.? I will need to call them back when I have a chance. That chance is probably not today.

What is wrong with people from India and the Philippines with names like Joe and Amanda? They could be Catholic and baptised with those names. The Philippines, in particular, was an American colony for years, so there's lots of American influence there.

Karen, when you get this sorted out, could you call my cable company for me? Only half of the installation works as it should, and when I call customer service, I get someone in Texas who doesn't even know where my local office is. As it happens, there are two "local offices"--each one claims that the other is the one I should be talking to. Meanwhile, I have only limited telephone service, the box for my TV has a problem, and my bill goes up every month despite my having a one-year contract. The Internet connection, mercifully, works, apart from when they decide to have an "outage", which is amazingly often.

I have never wanted a cell phone, but am thinking of buying one just so I can reach 911 should I need help during one of Mediacom's frequent outages.

Karen, it's not about techtardedness, it's about power. The power of the person they send you to that you can NEVER connect with. it's all smoke and mirrors. it's the man behind the curtain. so what does one do to get the power back? do not get off the phone, stay there if the house catches fire, if the mother in law shows up, if the neighbor needs to borrow Neds power tools. Do not hang up the phone till you speak to someone who will either fix your problem of give you and inordinate amount of money because of your wasted time, preferably both.
