(December 10th, 2009) Floor stomping and all.....
With her infamous rude girl logo in the back ground....did you catch it on the frets of her black guitar?.....Janis awed us with her song and story telling. The wonderful Susan Werner opened.....and Janis immediately mesmorized us with 'Jesse' as soon as she appeared on stage.
The weather outside the Stocker Center in Eylria, Ohio wasn't fit for man nor beast - winds gusting to 50mph and frigid...brrrrr. The weather slowed the arrival of Susan earlier that day. We all made it to the center, however. And Janis Ian warmed our hearts. We learned that Ohio was one of the first states where broadcasting studios played 'Society's Child'. There was no better place to be on such a cold night. .....'Silly Habits'...do mean a lot!
At the close of this magical evening the audience was on their feet until Janis & Susan re-appeared on stage - together...for the first time!
And what an encore by this special duo. Janis showed us just how special her talent on the guitar is and Susan awed us with her enduring vocal range as they finished with 'These Boots Are Made For Walking'.
And tonight I get a second encore when Janis performs at the Kent Stage.
