This is just a beautifully feeling, eloquent speech. Whichever side you fall on, she makes good points.

Wow, great speech... very eloquently said.
She spoke very well on the subject.
I especially liked how she addressed the fears some people have about the “sanctity” of marriage being compromised when everyone but the irrational and bigoted know what hetero marriage has become nowadays. I mean, what exactly are they wanting to protect? It’s an irrational fear. What’s the current statistic? Half of all hetero marriages end in divorce? I hope I live to see the day that you and Pat will be also married in your own country Janis and not just mine, or “married in London but not in New York.”

The senator makes her point. It's important to know who our friends and allies are; thanks for posting, Janis.

And it still didn't pass...did anyone there even bother to listen to what she said, how she said it, and the sense that she made? It would be so nice if we could elect representatives who could understand language and who would do what their constituents wanted instead of the Pope or some other silly organizations who love to deny civil rights just because they think they can. I say 'enough', already!
When are we going to say that civil rights are not votable issues?
Just give them to us, already!!!!

Amen Bat, Amen. how very far are we from the people who first came here for the reason of personal freedom, to live, love and believe in who they wish or don't wish. We have hated anyone who is different from the majority, not out of fairness but out of fear. " I can like you, even love and care about you until i find out you are not the same as me." how wrong is that? makes me wonder how we get along with anyone besides ourselves. THAT scares me
