I just checked and you are correct, Randy. Ooh. That is a scary thing to say! ;)

OK, somebody tell me what's wrong with this picture....

We will be having a HUGE gathering of Janis fans/Rudies from around the globe converging for a picnic in Pittsburgh. And an hours' drive from Pittsburgh, Janis will be performing at a festival. On the SAME DAY.

I ask again. What's WRONG with this picture? I am about to have a
melt-down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the event anyone is thinking of doing both, bear in mind that tis construction season in Allegheny county.. Seven Springs is closer to 2 1/2 to 3 hours from where the picnic is happening. I 79 is tore up in several locations, Rte 51 has major construction and they are working on I376. Plan accordingly.

I've got to find out about this festival. I'm not planning on the picnic -- I first came on the site after it had all been planned, I think -- but Janis and Melanie are two of my favorite artists. Them on the same bill is too good to be true! Is anyone else going to try to get there?

never mind RJ...I found it. DOH!!

Wait a dang minute Ponytail, WHY exactly aren't you coming to Pittsburgh for our picnic?? It's not to late to join us!! Okay fine if you'd rather go to the Janis concert....but maybe we can do both, depending on where Janis falls in the lineup?? What's a couple hour drive if a bunch of us ride together and yack the whole way, with HOPEFULLY somebody navigating who can figure out the way.......that would NOT be me incidentally. I'd be willing to drive, but I need a navigator.

Welllllll all...

Such befuddlement... LOL but all things considered Betty and I after much discussion reached our decision...As we may well have family coming in from NC and NJ for parts of Musikfest, we are pretty well obligated to stay in our own neck of the woods...(Add to that the pirate threats if we return to Pittsburgh) So I just bought tickets to "Hippiefest 2006" at The Mountain Laurel Center in the Pocono's about an hour from here... (6 rows back Section 4, row F seats 9,10,11....Alas no Janis here....But we will see her in July and then again in October so I guess we can make the sacrifice this time...

For those of you considering doing both the picnic and Seven Springs Concert, I think the first act is scheduled to kick off at 7:pm... Now if Redjack is right about a 3 hour trip based on traffic being screwed up and detours you could still share a great day at the park with fellow Rudies.... For that matter IF I was going to the Picnic I would plan on being there early just in case... In case of what???? Well you never just know if some celebrity might sneak by to offer a friendly hello... After all, its just a couple hours.... I would remind you that at Festivals Janis is Not always able to greet fans at all events... I just don't see her greeting the several THOUSAND fans that are at theis event... Maybe but I sure wouldn't expect it of her... I will remind you all that the powers that be, our dear friends and fellow rudies Redjack, Irishbeth and others have put out both cash and more important a lot of time and sweat to ensure that this picnic will be one that will remain with you all as a lifetime memory... Please don't let them down... I would give my left tes......nevermind.... just know I wish so much Betty and I could be there to share this event with you all...

To you all

Our very best wishes... To RJ & IB and those others that have done so much...our sincerest thanks....
