But instead of banning gay marriages lets make it about banning really stupid presidents from Texas from opening their mouths...

Why limit it to really stupid presidents from Texas? Bu$h is not from Texas by the way. In reality he's old New England money relocated to Texas. Most people forget that.
I repeat, Bu$h is old New England money relocated. I don't have anything against old New England money really but let's make sure to put the blame where the blame is due and make that amendment appy to any or all stupid presidents (of which we've had more than just one).

who has rights...really. let's look for a moment at who really has rights...hmmmm is it the indidividual, or the group? is it the person or the persons who can afford the best lawyers? is it the one or the ones who can make us believe that God is on their side? who has rights, really? i can put a bumper sticker on my car saying anything i want, and then someone can come along when i'm not around and cover it up with something they want to say. it's happened. how many peole have the right to life and lose it every day( i'm not talking about abortion here) i'm talking about people who have been killed by others for whatever reason that they thought was their right. not beciuse they are gay or str8 or black or white, but just because they were and them being happend to impinge in some minute way in someone else's rights. we say we live in a civilized society, that our would has come a long way in the last several thousand years. 5000 years ago or more the colliseum in Rome had a retractible roof and elevators and indoor plubming. 2000 years ago, a man was tourtured and out to death because he didn't live up to the kind iof king that people wanted and not just jews but gentiles and muslims, just over 50 years ago 6 million jews and millions of others who didn't "fit in" with what seemed "right" and "good" were murdered and hundreds of thousans of innocent people were erased and continue to die due to the effects of the atom bomb and it's desire to stop the killing in a war that the US didn;t even enter until it was close enough to us. and now the world is invovled in a war were people die daily who are just trying to live while the ones who we are trying to beat are rarely even seen. why is this? There is a comedian who said " We could find Bobit's cold shrived penis in a snow covered field, but we can't find the man who coodinated the attack on the US" tell me please Where have we grown???what makes us civilized?? and who has right?

Dave, my partner, said yesterday that we should all call our senators and say we'd like to see a constitutional amendment making divorce illegal, and then one banning masturbation. The problem is, people in favor of this amendment are so stupid they might not realize it's a joke.
I have been listening to as many as I could radio and TV talk shows discussing THE ISSUE in the past couple days and I must admit that I'm getting truly scared. The political demagogy under heavy cover of religious rightchesness: we are here to defend the children’s rights, there is no comparison between this ban and the interracial marriage one from years ago, all people are equal but not all sexual orientations are (what?!), etc. ... So much expensive (hot) air time and effort to promote such a minor issue, just check the polls...
Such a massive frontal attack to defend this poor nation from how many thousands scary homosexuals intending to marry?! It would be truly comforting to me if I could be sure that it is Bush's initiative only, and we can sleep well again after he is gone...

Lilly, I feel you are right. This whole thing is not just about Bush. It's about a lot of people, some easily swayed by fear and ignorace. Bush just happens to have a big mouth and uses it well at his platform. This is all another episode in history repeating itself, another Civil Rights movement coming to a head perhaps.
And, the fanatics are on the rise, panicing in their cultish death throes.
I suggest that they be helped in passing. No, not with violence, but feed them their own tail. Other people will see them for what they are, full of hate and fear, just like the KKK, Nazis, ect. Public support sways politicians.
Or, we could just have one great big BBQ.:D
