Janis,
You were great last night!! Your musical ability combined with your sense of humor and humanistic insight makes a great formula for success. If you could bottle all of that talent and sell that you would be a millionaire. I love your stories, your songs and your jokes. It made my day, month and year. Thank you for being you.

Great show, Janis is always in top form in small intimate venues like the Gravity. Of course I'm a little biased, the Gravity is just down the road from me and I basically consider it an extension of my living room. :D

The new song was about how she and Pat are considered married in some places, partnered in others and single here at home in the good ole' USA. I liked it very much as did the rest of the very full house! :)

Sister Rose drove down to join us at the Rudie table I had reserved at the front. Too bad I didn't know you were coming folkrocks, you could have joined us too...group picture and concert photos to come.

Gotta go...typing with one hand is a pain in the butt...:(

See ya in Pittsburgh,

Thanks Dragon lady,
For giving more information. I didn't keep track of all the songs and it was nice to hear that the new song was about Janis and Pat's relationship. I thought the song was great and the rest of the audience did also.

Janis...you were amazing and funny as always...thank you for another wonderful night of laughing and crying at the same time...you have a way of making everyone in the audience feel important...we appreciate that. And thank you Dian and Kat for your perfect hospitality...it was a pleasure seeing you both again and spending time with you! Say hello to Rika for me! :)

LOL Rose on our way back from Cedar Rapids we stopped in Princeton Iowa and Princeton Illinois... Both reported a rash of recent stolen cars.... Makes one wonder..,,,

We'd love to see you at the Pocono Show...We live about 50 miles from there... if you and Hoops need a place to spend a night or two we often have a vacant (Unfurnished) appartment you could stay in... Just bring pillows and sleeping bags and air mattresses.... It has a refrig, stove, bathroom and and we can string Cable up and a TV if we know you want a free place to spend a couple nights. You are always welcome if your in the area as long as we have a vacant appartment.

Best to all

I grew up in a small town in north central West Virginia called Mannington.
I attended Mannington High School, which I might add is on the list of historic buildings in the state. It is the oldest school in use right now. It was constructed in 1902. It is presently used as a middle school. Mannington High no longer exists, as it consolated in 1979 with 5 other high schools in Mariion County.
I attended Fairmont State College, Fairmont is the home of Mary Lou Retton. The 1984 Olympic Gold medal winner in gymnastics.
Just sharing.:)
Have you had the opportunity to eat a wild onion, called a Ramp? Its very common in W.Va. People dig it up in April. Indiana University did some studies on this plant and it is found to have an abudance of anti-cancer fighting substances. It is a very pungent cross between an onion and garlic.
My mom used to put them in Meat Loaf, I loved the taste.

Hey don't worry about getting off topic too much around here...it happens a lot. we try to not do it if Janis asks us no to on a particular thread but most of the time we start with one thing and end with another...besides you started this thread...so you hijacked your own thread...:D

glad you came down to c'ville for the show,

I was at the far right at a table in the front with my patrner and sister rose from west va. we got there wickedly early and chatted with phillip, janis' manager/sound man and the lady herself for a few minutes then settled in for the evening. If you saw me at all, I had my arm in a sling and was wearing a fitnb t-shirt and a janis logo denim shirt like a jacket.

If you feel like coming down for any other gravity shows, i could recomend Jen Chapin on July 14th (yes, Capin as in Harry's daughter). Great singer-songwriter in her own right. That's the next show we have tickets to see.

Send a private message or email if you are coming our way and we can see about meeting in person.

have a nice weekend,

I have posted on another thread, but wanted to drop by here too. I got to Gravity Lounge just a few minutes before Janis came on, as I had thought the show wasnt starting til 8. But still a good seat, if in back. saw her there last year too. Gravity Lounge is the place for my kind of music, whether 60s "relics" like Tom Rush and Odetta, or newer performers like Devon Sproule, sonia disappear fear, Tret Fure, or Lisa Roberson.
While we are on the subject of where people are from,I grew up in beautiful, wonderful Rappahannock County,Va(not that far from Charlottesville). As I said on my profile, I am kind of a 60s "relic" too, an old folknik flower child, who uses the handle "Woodstock" on some boards.
