Back! Went down to New Jersey around 7:00 a.m. to go to my sister's graduation! It was wonderful, though I was supposed to be down there last night and did not learn that until too late. We had a lovely day, with Grandma, Mom, Dad, Aunt Sue, Uncle George, Ben, Buell, Nana, and Burt all in attendance. Not to mention me... occasionally getting mixed up with Caroline despite the fact that she had to wear a white dress (same pattern as mine, one made by each grandmother) while I was wearing my recently finished green/blue dress. She had been worried (since we had gotten stuck in traffic, and weren't there to see her before they hid all the graduates) and so I went to see her, summoning her to the window to make sure she was alright.
They said something nice about each graduate, since there were only thirty-five. One of the things said about Carol was, "She was a student who looked at an A- as room to improve" which was beyond an understatement--we all laughed (she one time complained about a bad grade, and the advisor--a new advisor--was at a loss for words when she found out the 'bad' grade was an A-). That was a running joke, and it followed her to her graduation. We had a beautiful time, the meal was good, too. I only got mistaken for Caroline twice, and the people quickly corrected themselves when they figured it out. What a long, interesting week this is going to be (I have my senior prom tomorrow night).
This means it is creeping closer to my graduation, day by day. I would love to invite you all, but I only have five tickets as it is, lol.

Song - From your description, it sounds like it was a very good day. I'm sure you're happy your grandmother was able to attend. Have fun at the prom!

How great that you were all together, Grandma too, and your dresses sound lovely. Not long now for yours, make sure you let us know how it all goes.
And well done driving home through that storm last week (sorry, off topic!).

Thank you all! It is so close... Makes me want to participate in senior skip day, but our teachers are being really wicked about senior skip day and will punish us quite thoroughly if we skip.
Manchester, that storm was actually the night before! We were supposed to be down at Carol's school, but she hadn't called back, so I thought we didn't have to go, and missed it because I was at my riding lesson.

Song - don't participate in Senior Skip Day!
Last year our administration warned our seniors as well. Of course, there are always those that think they won't get caught or whatever. Well, 3 of them did and, as a result, could not participate in graduation and got their diplomas handed to them in the school office. Also, during the class trip, they were warned about smoking, drinking, etc. and a couple more of THOSE kids got caught smoking cigarettes right behind one of the coach buses at Six Flags in Agawam, MA. So, they too, were unable to march in graduation. Not worth it. There is only one time in your life that you can participate in your high school graduation. So don't let anyone convince you otherwise!!!!!
Can you tell I'm a mom of a teenager??!! Plus, I'm so close to a lot of the kids because of my job, and I was SO disappointed to see that these kids took those chances. My heart went out to their parents.
One of those parents is a good friend of mine. Her daughter was one who got caught smoking on the class trip. She had relatives that didn't come after all for her daughter's graduation. Her party was cancelled. It was so sad. She and her daughter sat and watched the graduation with the other spectators and both of them cried often throughout.
Sorry if I'm rambling but Song, don't know if you had given it any serious thought but DON'T DO IT!!!!!
And, oh, when you DO get to participate, HAVE AN AWESOME TIME!! :D

Oh, we were only threatened seriously by Mr. Ranft, but then he changed it and we don't have class Monday anyway. People who have too many absent days will be there anyway, but they only threatened us with a detention. Senior classes will be nearly empty.
Prom was good, though it really made me wish I had someone to dance with. Also, I wished for some better music. However I'm a little sore, my feet hurt and while Caroline was doing my hair I managed to step right into the curling iron. Ow... burns hurt.
