Haven't heard Janis sing this before. Anyone know where it's from? Can't get enough of that guitar!!

It's "This Train" from "Shout, Sister Shout" tribute to Roseta Tharpe. A very nice compilation. I found it interesting that the same tune is repeated over and over in the "Cadillac Records" soundtrack, but the lyrics are totally different.

Andy can play this on her guitar just from listening to it. Isn't that kind of a big deal? What do you call someone who can hear something once and then play it back.... It's kind of like Deliverence without the bad teeth. ;)

And, Kathleen knows all! Thanks for the link, Andy!

Love it! Thanks Andy. What a great group of female singers on the album-phobe snow, odetta, sweet honey and the rock.....the list goes on.
I've been listening to what seems like the entire album here at Shout-Sister-Shout (http://www.rhapsody.com/album/shout-sister-shout-a-tribute-to-sister-rosetta-tharpe?artistId=art.68436)
I love Janis piece the best and phobe snow's second. How about you?

Yeah, I was listening to that and I think my top favorites are:
Janis - This Train
Marcia Ball - I Want a Tall Skinny Papa
Angela Strehli - Shout, Sister, Shout
Got to order that CD.

I like those, and the Pheobe Snow one too. There's also one by Odetta "3 little fishes". A few years before Odetta died I took the "Aftertones" CD that Janis signed for me in 95 to see if she could sign it. She was just too ill that day. Maybe Pheobe can sign it, if I ever meet her.
