That was great - thanks Judy. Interesting topic too. I wonder if the song, At Seventeen, would win a Grammy if it had the lyrics "I love my toast and scrambled eggs":p; but I think I am on the side of music first, lyrics second. Janis Ian's music and lyrics may be the exception to the popular vote as her lyrics are great stories. I love driving on medium to long trips with her CDs up full blast. I feel for the woman who rang in saying she never listens to music (maybe some opera) - I was reminded then how I would hate to be deaf. All my life I have been lucky enough to have music playing throughout all the homes I have lived in, and find it puzzling to go to other houses where music is hardly ever played. In these places the TV is on 24/7. I also find it strange to go to places where there is no art on the walls.
Oh my gawd, I'm rambling on like RandyPA.:D

I'm not sure, but i think, with a singer/songwriter, often the music and the lyrics come at the same time. someone like Mozart didn't have the words and someone like e e cummings didn't have the music. dang, you know, i can't imagine what is involved in all of this. Janis must be zinging all the time
