Try lots of high quality green tea, Osha root extract, Oregano oil capsules(taken with a piece of bread). These help speed recovery, but, it just has to run its course.

A fine update...and I do hope you are still doing plenty of sleeping.

Perhaps we should start as "cold cures" thread somewhere? For what it's worth, most seem to work equally well. I used to have good luck with "Breathe Easy" tea, which contained a small amount of ephedra and cleared everything out nicely without producing the intolerable side effects I get from Sudafed. Alas, some Federal spoilsport stepped in and to my knowledge the ingredient is no longer in the tea. However, one can still buy ephedra and, assuming you can get it in small amounts (the tea contained 1 mg.), the effect should be the same.

The natural source of ephedra is a Chinese herb called Ma Huang, which you can buy dried at herb stores or health food stores that sell herbs. A little bit of it goes a long way. It does have side effects similar to caffeine, but it clears up your sinuses and your lungs. Another herb that helps with chest congerstion is mullein leaf, which has no side effects, and mint helps with sinus congestion. A mixture of mullein and mint in a tea ball would help but not overstimulate you. Slippery Elm and licorice root are also good to soothe a sore throat.

Sending healing energy your way. Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you for the update, Janis (and John for putting in the hyperlinks!) It's always a joy to read. I can imagine that it's short if you feel so bad. I hope you feel better soon. I am sure some rest will also help. You have been working very hard the past months.

That hot toddie recipe would cause my mother to fake a lot of colds... She'll say: " Just leave out the tea, dear. That only makes me naucious. Oh, you know what? Leave out the other ingredients too. I don't want you to have so much work on this anti-cold drink. Only the whisky will do just fine..."

PS: Guys, it's safe to untie Marcia now. There is an update!
