Hi everyone
My beloved giant pandas need your help to vote for their #1 supporter, Suzanne Braden, director of Pandas International (http://www.pandasinternational.org/about.html), who has been nominated for Animal Planet's Hero of the Year award.
Founded 10 years ago, Pandas International is dedicated to the direct support (http://www.pandasinternational.org/projects.html) of the panda reserves in Wolong and Bifengxia in China. After Wolong was extensively damaged by the May 12 earthquake in 2008, the majority of its giant pandas were moved to Bifengxia.
Here is Suzanne's nomination submitted by panda lover Rae of New York:
"On May 12, life in Sichuan Province in China was forever changed by a major earthquake. Thousands of humans lives were lost; the toll on endangered wildlife may never be truly known. Ground Zero for the earthquake was the Wolong nature preserve housing a critical breeding center for Giant Pandas, one of the most endangered species of all. The kindergarten cubs and expectant mothers, the future of Giant Pandas, faced a dire situation. Pandas International director Suzanne Braden was monitoring the situation late at night (I know because I happened to email her and she was still up working). Pandas International was one of the first organizations to get milk, food and medical supplies to the affected Wolong area; and Suzanne made a personal trip to China to see for herself what the pandas and their human care takers needed to put their lives back in order. Amazingly, 13 cubs were born to mothers who survived the quake. Milk formula, incubators, and other supplies funded by Pandas International continues to support the efforts to keep Giant Pandas alive on earth for a long, long time. As the person who founded Pandas International, I believe Suzanne Braden is the undisputed Hero of the Year 2009."
Please vote for Suzanne here (http://animal.discovery.com/roar/hero-of-the-year/vote/).
The giant pandas say Xie Xie Ni (thank you)!
