That was amazing! I'd love to hear Janis sing "Will You Dance?" at one of her shows.
Once, during a performance at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta in the 90's, someone in the audience asked Janis what her favorite song was and Janis replied, "Up On The Roof". I thought that was an odd response, not because Janis didn't write it (Carole King wrote that classic) but because it was such a simple tune that has endured throughout the years. Maybe, just maybe that song has something to do with Peter Cunningham coming up with the idea of the designs for the "Miracle Row" album. The things we learn thirty years later!

That's one of my favorite Carole King songs, especially done by Carole herself. ("Writer" album) I could easily see why Janis would like it too. I had never heard of her saying that, though so it's very cool to know. My title for that clip was merely coincidental.
Thanks for sharing that!

The segment of Angela singing "Will You Dance" is the only video clip I've seen of her singing this song, though I've seen the same one used elsewhere. I'd love to hear Janis sing "Will You Dance" and to hear both of them sing it together would be heaven. Lord knows I've looked for a video of them singing it last year in Japan, though I don't even know if one exists. Maybe Janis knows.
Your videos are the clearest I've seen Kathleen, do you think one of these days you might share with us some of the tools you are using?

Up On The Roof is one of my all time favorite songs. Especially James Taylor's interpretation. It's fun to hear it is one of Janis's favorite songs too. And to hear Janis sing it..
Great video.

Would someone be willing to "rate" this video for me? It's the only one I've posted that doesn't have any "stars" yet.
Thanks!

Not too hard to give anything Janis (or anything posted by you) the maximum number of stars! I enjoyed watching this again.

Applauding all who see the brilliance in "Up on The Roof". I first heard it when it was a hit for The Drifters. All those wonderful songs that were born in the Brill Building amaze me. Many years ago I read a comparison of "Up on The Roof" to "In My Room" by the Beach Boys. The basic premise was that these were each songs that expressed a need to escape, think and imagine. The New Yorker wrote about walking up to the top of her six story apartment building in Brooklyn. The Southern California kid wrote about going up to his suburban bedroom. I don't know that I'd have compared the two, but after reading the writer's take on it, was intrigued.
