Sorry I've been away for so long, but I've been chilling out on Facebook and having some general fun! Now that there is a workable mobile Browser available, I shall be around much much more. I downloaded Opera Mini a couple of days ago, and while for some things I still use the old Browser, Opera Mini is much better for emails and message boards. Check it out. If your phone supports it and you don't always have the time these days then this is for you! :) If you use Yahoo, there is a link to download there which I will post as soon as I can. This is it's first outing for me on here.
Of course it will never be as good as a proper computer, but at least I will be able to view the Board on High Days and Holidays without getting upset about not being able to get online :)

My pleasure completely.
FYI (or anybody else for that matter :p ) the mini browser -can- be use on -any- PC, but in a limited manner. It's like using an extremely slimmed down version of the more capable and expansive main Opera browser.

...but one that works on my phone! That's all I ask. :)

Wow, I haven't been on the board in months (my Dian aka Dragonlady keeps me up to date) and the first time back I pop into Geekdom and low and behold a gem. OperaMini is so cool. why haven't we heard more about it!
thanks

Kathleen was so excited she downloaded it onto her malfunctioning Blackberry!! The new replacement was sitting in a box on her desk. She'll get the new on up and running tonight and be ready to go.
I'll get it this downloaded on mine too and maybe actually use the internet on my BB. I so hate the browser I currently have I currently don't use it unless I really need to look up something and we're on the road or something.

Delighted to see you both enjoying Opera Mini!!!! :) Before my Sony Ericsson finally escaped permanently, I managed to learn how to download new music :) using the free downloads here. There are one or two basic functions that don't work as well as with the old version, but the thing which struck me most was that I could post on the board. Hopefully it won't be to long before I have a new phone, and I can start again soon.
Sorry I've been away for so long, but like Kathleen, Facebook is where it's at!!!! :D

Huh! different strokes for different folks, I guess. I mean I like Facebook well enough, within reason, but, for me, it will never ever EVER take the place of the JIMB and the family we have created here.
I agree, Dar. Facebook is frequently rife with problems (and sometimes problem people) that never seem to get dealt with, and it has all those idiotic applications and outrageous ads. They should have used the JIMB as a model but alas they did not. *sigh*

In my confusion about facebook, I asked and was told that it was "just like the JIMB but without Janis". Well I beg to differ, and agree whole heartedly with you Dar. This MB is unique, and the things that go on between members behind the scenes, could never happen on facebook imho. I doubt very much that a facebooker would make an offer to help with my vet. expenses for Charlie, but someone on the JIMB did, and when I said I'd be okay, that someone sent me a gift by way of compensation. Nah, never happen on facebook.

Yes, the JIMB is far better than Facebook.... especially, lately, Facebook is really acting weird.... plus we have a much better community of people.

I think it is like comparing apples and oranges. I get certain things from each place. I have re-connected on facebook with family members and friends from highschool. I also stay up on local events like a concert a friend of mine's band was putting on. I wouldn't have known about it if not for facebook.
Although many of my Rudie friends are on facebook, it will NEVER replace the JIMB!! I will always come here FIRST every day. You are all my "First Family" on the 'net. What I get here from this special community of Rudies, I could NEVER get on facebook.

I'd have to agree with Marcia...I get different things from both sites....I can keep in touch with literally hundreds of people on FB who wouldn't have much reason to hang out on the JIMB but the JIMB folks are my close-knit internet community more like family...wouldn't trade one for the other ever.
