Just back to my hotel room after a delightful evening with the one and only DAR. I picked her up at the BART station and we drove up to San Ramon for dinner at a really neat place called Max's Diner. No Stoopwafels, but great Matzoh Ball soup, and real NY Cheesecake. We chatted about all kinds of things and I must say it was a wonderful way to end my 5 days of freedom, as I re-engage in the oroginal purpose of this trip, software training, in the morning.

Anyhow, here's the proof:

Amy,

So happy it worked out for the two of you gals to get together. Over food of course.

Enjoyed your training . . .or does the training still run?

How FUN! Bet you 2 had a BLAST! Glad you finally got to meet the infamous Dar. And sorry I missed out on the matzoh ball soup. I'll have to get to that restaurant if I am ever out west again!

Marcia :)

Ya beat me to it Amy!! We had a blast, coupla chatty gals talking about everything under the sun, even got a little computer instruction for my upcoming new arrival.

Marcia, Max's is a fantastic local chain, there are a couple locations, all have really great food, gigantic sandwiches and fabulous desserts. I always enjoy their Chicken Matzo Ball soup, but what do I know? So I figured I should bring an expert to see if it passes the test and it got a big thumbs up. That NY Cheesecake Amy ordered, a HALF order by the way, was about four inches high and I think that wide at the top.

The place's motto is, 'this is a bad place for a diet'.

Ya know Agnes, I might have to keep a stash of stroops in my freezer for these meeting Rudie occassions.

Yet another confirmation of the wonderfulness of Rudie Reunions. Amy wants us to start the JanisMania II planning.....................

So Amy mentioned that she picked me up at a Bart station. That's the local public transit, she's staying in a suburb about an hour's ride from my work. Point being, I did not drive. Explain to me then, why after our meal I felt compelled to pull my keys out of my purse? Can't answer that one? Then I guess we'll never know why I LEFT THEM ON THE FRIGGIN' TABLE?? Didn't miss them until this morning. Thankfully when I called the restaurant the women who answered happened to be the same manager who closed last night, so I didn't even finish asking the question before she giggled and said yes they had them in the safe. She said the server noticed them right away and they assumed I'd walk right back in to get them since I MUST have been driving. BWAHAHA!! So, oh darn, I have to go back to the restaurant this weekend, what a hardship....................heh heh........I might have a burger this time, Amy's sure looked good last night.

It appears to be a rule of nature that Rudies cannot meet without some serious food being involved. Never have I seen an account of any Rudie meeting that included something like "we cooked hamburgers on the grill". No, Rudie food is far more sophisticated, and as a general rule the portions must be large.

Imagining Dar stocking a bunker with stroopwafels....

So can we play with this?????:rolleyes: Now was it that "puppy ####"? Oh no that was a Donny Osmond song.:cool: This is a new food thread starter.....or is it????:D

Glad you two hit so well off and got picture for the proof, but remind me again who is who in that picture.:o

What Dar failed to mention was that not only did she leave her keys on the table, I left my wallet at the hotel. I almost NEVER forget my wallet. Like any good butch, I keep it in my back left pocket. But I had been wearing shorts all day, and when I changed to go out, I put on jeans and must have gotten distracted, cause everything BUT my wallet made the transfer.

So, Dar ended up paying for my dinner. That means she will be receiving a substantial gift of Vermont Maple Syrup once I get back east.

So.. lets start planning Janis Mania II folks...

BTW.. training today was great.. 2 more days of it, then I make like a bird and fly home.

Amy....I only confess to my OWN forgetfulness.....besides to be honest I FORGOT about your wallet snafu. No wonder Peggy as started calling me Darey. (after Dorey from Finding Nemo who had no memory ability at all) swimming swimming swimming :D

Vermont Maple Syrup??? Oh ALL right, if you insist. :D

As to JanisMania II, First we have to see if Janis would be willing..................bats eyes hopefully in the direction of Nashville........

Amy my dear, it's quite simple in my eyes:

you = butch
butch = gorgious
ergo...
you = gorgious

Capice?

Amy,
I hope your trip back is uneventful!! It was great meeting you!

I'll give our server your regards when I go back there tomorrow to pick up my keys and EAT there again. :)

...funny how everything turns into a food thread!

I just got back from dinner at the Macaroni Grill. What a fabulous place! Prices are very reasonable. I had the Lobster Ravioli. It was superb! I finished with an enormous serving of Tiramisu..and ate the whole thing!

The ravioli were clearly hand made, and the lobster inside was so fresh, there were a couple of little bits of shell. Topped with a lemony sauce with diced fresh tomatoes and slivers of perfectly cook asparagus, this will be a forever memorable dish!

Anyhow, I am packing up tonite to be off to catch a 10:30 plane. I will get into Burlington around 9:30 eastern, barring any delays. Then home to greet 4 doggers whom I miss, although I know at least one that will probably give me the cold shoulder for being gone longer than I have in the almost 10 years of her life!

Adios California!
