I -was- going to record that right off the net when I ran into it yesterday... but I decided I'll just get the CD (assuming it's not harboring a rootkit or some DRM scheme).
That link is making the rounds of a number of "activist" sites. :p

I believe I need to purchase this album. Talk about a statement. I was really teed off that the local (backwards, prejudice, ultra conservative) station stopped playing their music for a good year after all the ruckus of the remarks she made. I applauded them then, and I still do.

I'm not normally a Chicks fan, but will buy this. I HAVE to buy this.
btw, the lyrics are up and the song plays on their home page www.dixiechicks.com
I love this part...
I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’
It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

You folks DO know that the Chick's manager is none other than my former manager, Simon "Scumbag" Renshaw, he of the famed Revenge take-off album?

Wait wait - Simon never, ever cheated me or behaved in any way but that of a wonderful gentleman. We're still good friends. Please don't get a mistaken impression from Sue's post!

Janis, I guess if someone didn't understand your post #11, it would be easy to get the wrong impression from it! Many of us DO know about the Simon Renshaw parodies and that the reference you made to him was not to be taken literally! Well, not TOO literally! ;)

I took the previous message literally. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Sue:confused:
Don't worry about it, Sue! I think if I hadn't known the background, I'd have been confused.

If you haven't heard the parodies, they're worth a listen.

Love the clip. Love the Chicks and will pick up the album.
I will bring your Burt Bacharach "At This Time" in Chicago.
If you like folks who are shouting out a bit you should like this album.
See ya in the windy city soon.
PS to Janis - of course we knew that about Rhymin' Simon WE ARE FANS AFTER ALL. :)

Really looking forward to meeting you, Cardiffgal...and the BBalbum, too!
We're gonna have fun...sounds like we'll be eating our way through Chicago, just like any other town with good food! WHEEEEEEEE!!!
Here's a good link to an interview with Burt about his new album:

I like the Dixie Chicks. I like them even more now. They do a world of good for country music. They break the image that all those in to country music are rednecks, republicans and radical patriots, out to kill foreigners.
I bet they thought the Chicks were just a bunch of nice looking girls who would just sing and be pretty. WRONG!!
Shall be buying that album as soon as I can. In support.
