Is it forums or fora by the way? In Dutch we say fora...

Anyway...
My group wants to set up an internetforum. None of us is really a computerwizzard. We would like to use something that is userfriendly for visitors. And not too hard to maintain for the techs etc.

Do you have an idea which forums are good? I really like vBulletin (like this one) but for instance phpBB is a lot cheaper. Are there more good ones? Are they expensive? Is there any techsupport with any of them?

Thanks!

Eva

Take a look here at ProBoards (http://www.proboards.com/).

It's FREE!

"Free" is ALWAYS good, . . . . . especially when you're a tightwad like me. :D

We've tried several over the years and currently have:

Most of them have demos you can try out.

Free is good. As long as you're a tech who can handle problems by yourself. But we're not. Just a group of voluonteers with limited time. So free would be wonderful, but cheap will also do. And maybe a bit more expensive if there is good techsupport.

Right there on the link I supplied for Proboards is this:

Welcome to the Internet's premier forum provider, hosting over 20 million members at 2 million forums! You can go ahead and create (http://www.proboards.com/signup.cgi) your own forum for free, or if you need help with your existing forum head on over to our support forum (http://support.proboards.com/).
So either you're not willing to delve into the support forums or you want the ability to get someone to hold your hand through any difficulties you might have. True?
