...............do I need say anymore...........except I am not happy with our (Iceland) contribution this year.
On a lighter note.......what can be better then a song competing contest.

Gisli, watching the clip above, that choreography reminds me that she's trying to do the moves of Shakira in "Hips Don't Lie".... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEHVw_vcp-Ahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEHVw_vcp-A

I don't care too much for Eurovision, but couldn't believe Patricia Kaas is representing France- she is far too good for Eurovision, and really doesn't need to do it. The song is stunning tho, but far too subtle for a song fest so probably won't do well.

I agree David it really is a nice song and it is because of songs like this that make Eurovision worth watching...........and of course having the excuse of firing up the grill, geting together with family and friends and going to a danceclub afterwards.......
For some reason many think this song from Norway will do well............beside them dancers I do not see why......intresting song??????????

Wow.......:D if anyone saw Eurovision last night you would have been blown away......WHAT A SHOW.......
If this is anything like next saturday (the finals) then you have got something big coming your way.
Them Moscow guyīs and gals are really making this show the BEST ever.....
......Them gals was a big surprice to me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_G1k4EClmU not because of the song....or the lyrics...but because there was one singer from Israel and another who has a Palestin father and they was together singing.
........The lyrics are in three languages, israel, palestinan and english....Isnīt that just lovely concidering the athmosphere over there:) what indiduals can do what goverments can not?...and believe me everybody is going crazy over there because of an israeli and a palestinian singing together and on the same stage/set.....Right Geula????
.....Elvis didnīt make it this time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A11XnROrndQ .....Oh well maybe next time he visits.
Anyways the celebration has begun Eurovision 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbc41xRRPZ8 Second semi final tomorrow and the finals saturday http://www.eurovision.tv/page/home
PS I am overduing it aint I...........but such is lust:cool:

”This is your life fly to the top baby....”....itīs only pop music not rocket science.
Ok so Eurovision is not something everybody wants to admit that they watch........they like saying: “No I didnīt watch it”.......still 600 million people around the world do..........over here nobody admits to watching Eurovision.....stilllllll....85% seem to lie about it.
Eurovision is the single most watched event on television beside live sport events like the Olympics etc. Cliff Richard or should I say Sir Cliff Richard, has sang in Eurovision, it was Abbaīs platform to stardom and Celine Dion also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pEYw8PcBas andetc etc.
It is a celebration of near 50 nations competing together in a song contest....some use it to make fools of themselves and some use it to rise to stardom.....most do it to celebrate life and have fun.
Over here we use this event as an exscuse to throw a party...we invite our friends over and the men go out and fire up the grill and drink a beer, the women wait for dinner to be served and drink red wine and the little ones play basket ball or soccer or stuff little ones do......and drink soda.
After the party little ones get a babysitter to watch over them and big folks go out on the life...pub walking or dance club or just visit the next door neigbour party.
This event over here marks all so of saying goodbye to winter and bid summer welcome...........at this time the midnight sun has arrived........Kids dont want to go to sleep cause the sun aint down yet, school is about to finish.....the last exams are over for most kids.......and the birds are singing theyre love songs, grass is becoming green and leaves are coming back on the trees.........the little lambs are being born (our next years grill food) . There is love all around and what is more appropriate then celebrate live with a song in the back and the foreground.
feelgood songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7O_y81SKRF8&feature=related
songs that we ask us “Is this for real???” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWZeOrQvI78&NR=1 is one allowed to do that with Mozart........
songs that give us words of hope http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoYXMmAlm_k
and songs that make us proud http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58Qdi8jL4cs if not for anything else then because she has a dress on....not that “Chatolic thing-yeee” like most others do today...........and that she (only) just turned 18 years old.
Songs that combine us together, weather we like or dislike the songs we hear......they are there to stir up our feelings, the good or bad, to make us aware of misjust, or remind us of love, to make us feel alive or bath ourselfes in selfpity.....we choose the feeling......But in the end itīs all about living and leting go of whatever feeling there is beneath the surface of the “Hi I am The Perfect One” face. Or in other words donīt go “Yellow in my perfect “boxed” Green world--------------- syndrome.”
A song can be an exscape from life.....or a wake up call to life.......and the best thing about a song is, that it is not you who chooses the song.....it is the song that chooses you, ....we are just in the surroundings the song falls in to......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8cZ1YDCpMA

I have heard from someone who was at the rehearsals that the Greek guy hardly sings at all, most of the vocals are done by one of the backing singers.
naughty ;)

After watching numerous videos I came up with my prediction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAHxiTlWWvw&feature=related
Ah come on gisli, he's adorable, sweet and so energetic and entertaining. People are singing the words out loud and in general having a ball.
He would get my vote and I not into feel good music.

Darlene, to tell the truth I thought this song would go away from me but it doesnt....honestly, every time I hear it (and believe me I hear it a lot) it gets better and better and that is strange for me cause usually if I like a song the first time around it fades away very quickly.
His performance though was a bit dissapointing in the semi finals but that as they say and according to that famous little bird that wispers, is because he seems to love partying a lot.....hehehehehehe............so he is having a ball.
I love his song and this young man, Alexander Rybak is very gifted, he wrote the music and the lyrics and plays the fiddle........the future is his if he doesnt blow it away in much partying........he will get two votes from my household.
Dave, what a hunk of a man this Greek guy is, a "God-ly Figure".............my Kata melts every time she sees him........and believe me that says a lot when she openly admits she like-yyy like-yyy someone else than me.........for my ears to hear that is:cool::o
Yeah, I was wondering how he could sing this well whithout loosing his breath while jumping and dancing around like that. Now I understand and if one looks closely you can see that he must have a back up. But his performance was very enjoyable to watch a real professional............
One never knows when it comes to Eurovision (I am still wondering why Ireland did not make it to the finals) but it seems that the battle is between Norway "hunk" and The Greek “hunk”..........I on the other hand seem more and more to druel over this lady http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su596dQKLU0 and her performance............must be the Klaus Nomi feeling she stirs up within me.....plus she is very very my kind of beautyful. It is Sweden or France at the moment for me...........and The Greek guy.......and Norway...........and then this one is a surprice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIzYqFewvAs A simple song without any glamour and a beautyful one it is.
PS Have you noticed how many string intruments (like fiddle etc) there are in many of the songs this year???

To be honest I'm delighted I missed it!!!!
However, that is not to say I wish them all well in their careers! I mislaid my phone at an awesome concert last night. I'm still at David Gardiner's and leave for Oxford shortly but without my phone and all the photos. I know where I left it (at the venue) but wow, what a night!!! There will be a DVD of the night to remember it by, although I didn't get any cake (40th anniversary concert given by Wishbone Ash at London Shepherd's Bush Empire) The next time I see the band will be at Edinburgh's very own Queen's Hall in October. Sad to say I will miss Al Stewart tonight there, but ....next time! :)
Next Concert? Steve Forbert at the world famous (for all the wrong reasons) Caves. And Pink Floyd at Galashiels in September - ticket duty for both :) :) :)
Gisli, I really hope you enjoyed the music last night from Eurovision, but I have to admit that I'm made of harder stuff, and no amount of Eurovisions, Westlifes, Boyzones or anyone else will ever do much for me. Sorry!
Janis, please come back... we miss you!
Hugs Annabel x
