My Praying Mantids finnally hatched! And I was lucky enough to watch.

They are sooooo cute. Itty bitty tigers, already hunting.
I won't have to worry about bugs around here.
The next egg case should hatch anytime now. Whoohoo.

I do hope they don't decide to have each other for dinner! I've never seen a little one ... ours around here are 3 - 4 inches long, and they only duck when a bird flies by or gets too close...even they have their limits.

You wont have to worry if you come to my house Eva. These kiddies are stricktly the outdoors types. Although the cats would love it if they were inside.
This particular type gets up to 5 inches long. Almost big enough for a leash.
Yeah, I know what you mean Bat. Not much intimidates them. They have an almost unearthly look about them. Maybe its because their pupils move independently from the rest of their big bug-eyes. You can see them looking right at you, thinking....Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
We got them mostly for pest control instead of using nasty chemicals.
But, I think they are the coolest creatures.

I calculated how much 5 to 8 inches is in centimeters and then I grew quite pale... What a nightmare! :eek: Seriously, I have had nightmares about these animals when I was younger.

Hey Eva, I used to have dreams about giant spiders, as big as a Volkswagon Beetle. So, I bought a tarantula and the dreams stopped.
