I realise this is a very long shot among Janis Ian fans

but

has anyone heard of this woman

a weird goth style singer in the 80s famous for her Hammer Horror film vocal effects and quirky new wave hits....

she is part american, part romanian, part german and now lives in the English countryside.

She has just got dressed up in her old gothic gear again after 20 years and done a fabulous independent album of great songs- weird as ever... she has just sent her oldest son to university and he must be thinking "oh no mum... please don't..." this cd won't sell but it's great.

just thought I'd see if any UK rudies remember her

I remember her:) she did Flex a very good album. Yeah she is up there with Klaus Naomi, Laurie Anderson, Nina Hagen, Sparks, Can Can etc era. So she is at it again, it goes without saying......bands, singers, performers, never stop...she is great.

By the way welcome back from Hungury, you have been missed.

Yes I saw that on they´re web page. One never knows where the wind blows you, so one should never say never but Janis is the only artist that I was willing to travel abroad to and see on stage. Sooo thanks for the reminder, but....

Is Lene´s new cd any good, have you heard it?

I should maybe also mention that in this era I also was listening to Olivier Messiaen, mostly his work: La Transfiguration De Notre Seigneur Jesus Christ....went from there to punk, strange days, weird days, great days.

I remember Lene Lovich! I was totally wild over her song "Lucky number". Was it 1n 1979? My, I was only 11 then... I think it was a 'translation' of a song I heard Nina Hagen sing. I forgot the name of that song and I also don't know if Nina wrote it herself... But she probably did. I have an album by Nina Hagen, but I can't find it right now... Anyway... It's nice to hear Lene Lovich is 'out there' again (as if she ever was average... :) )

Eva, it was actually Nina Hagen who translated Lene's "Lucky Number" into German. The two have worked together though on a number of occasions...

I always remember Lene's "Bird Song" giving me the creeps when I was in my teens.

Egghead was my favorite creep song with Lene, both songs are on the album Flex.

on her new album there is a song which starts

"would you like to spend some time
in somebody else's mind...?"

a great song
