I was reading FAQ, looking for how to do a survey and i saw "what's a "sock puppet" and why is it bad" Before i read what, in fact, it was i thought of the little grey monkeys with the red mouths that are made out of socks. i laughed out loud thinking "OMG this is such a funny kinda thing to find some kind of strange humor in, I love it" I thought of all kinds of collectors, many of whom I know personnally and how i've always finding amuzing that they would collect such things. i actually got a good two or three minute belly laugh out of my thoughts. I really enjoyed it.
then, alas, curiousity got me and i read the answer to that FAQ. it was like a tiny pin prick in the balloon of my silliness. so i'm going to give you this warning. read the FAQ and LAUGH GOOD AND HARD FIRST then read what it's about if you feel you must.

Hoops, I actually thought exactly the same thing when I first heard the term... also, I thought of my mom, a big wool sock stretched over her hand, pretending to be Shari Lewis and Lambchop. Funny, good memories.

Everything fun from my childhood is now becoming ironic internet lingo. I remember when I thought "trolls" were just those chubby naked dolls whose long hair my mom would rub for luck when she played Bingo....sigh...
