A human being is only complete if they are the Alpha and the Omega of their own lives. Relationships with others do not alter that (oh, I know they do for many, but there's no good reason for it apart from one participant who "needs" to be "superior"). If you simply must have a "beta", buy a dog.

Or you can have my housemate for free. Just be warned that she runs through the entire Greek alphabet at random.
