Police seek blow-up doll sex bandit

SYDNEY (Reuters) - An Australian man broke into three adult shops, had sex with blow up dolls named "Jungle Jane" and then dumped his plastic conquests in a nearby alley, local media reported Wednesday.

"It's totally bizarre. It's a real concern that someone like that is out on the street," said one of the owners of the adult sex shops in Cairns in northern Queensland state.

"He has been taking the dolls out the back and blowing them up and using the dolls and leaving them in the alley," the owner, who gave the name of Vogue, told the Cairns Post newspaper.

Police told the Cairns Post that scientific officers had taken DNA samples, fingerprints and pictures of the crime scene.

Man accused of urinating on bouncer at Alaska bar

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) -- A 22-year-old Fairbanks man was arrested for allegedly urinating on a bouncer at a bar on Sunday morning. The bouncer at Kodiak Jack's told police that he was trying to remove another man from the bar for causing a disruption.

The bouncer said he was trying to calm down the other man when he noticed the man behind him urinating on his leg.

The man was charged with with harassment, indecent exposure and making a false report. He was apparently angry that his friend was being thrown out of the bar.

Six-year-old Virginia boy misses bus, takes family car, crashes

By The Associated Press

WICOMICO CHURCH, Va. - A six-year-old Virginia boy who missed his bus tried to drive to school in his family's sedan - and crashed.

State police say the boy suffered only minor injuries and authorities drove him to school after he was evaluated at a local hospital.

Sgt. Tom Cunningham says the boy arrived shortly after lunch. It happened around 7:40 a.m. Monday on Route 360, about 100 kilometres east of Richmond.

Police say the boy, who wasn't identified, missed the bus, took the keys to his family's 2005 Ford Taurus and drove 16 kilometres toward school while his mother was asleep.

He ran off the road several times before hitting an embankment and utility pole about two kilometres from school.

Police say he wasn't wearing a safety belt.

Palin says she's been exploited by Couric and Fey

By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says CBS News anchor Katie Couric and comic actress Tina Fey have been "exploiting" her. :o

Palin also is questioning whether Caroline Kennedy is getting better treatment from the news media in her quest for a Senate seat than Palin herself received as Republican John McCain's running mate.

Palin reflected on her campaign for national office in an interview this week with conservative radio talk-show host and filmmaker John Ziegler.

Clips are posted on YouTube.

Palin gave Couric a rare interview at the beginning of her campaign, and Fey frequently impersonated Palin on "Saturday Night Live."

Palin says she thinks there may be a "class issue" involved in the press coverage of Kennedy and her own bid for office.

Is Tintin gay? Cartoon birthday boy dogged by rumours

LONDON (AFP) - As Belgian comic-book icon Tintin celebrates his 80th birthday, an age-old question has resurfaced: is the boy reporter gay? One British commentator says the signs are unmistakeable.

"Billions of blue blistering barnacles, isn't it staring us in the face?," wrote The Times journalist Matthew Parris under the headline "Of course Tintin's gay. Ask Snowy," ahead of Saturday's anniversary.

"What debate can there be when the evidence is so overwhelmingly one-way? A callow, androgynous blonde-quiffed youth in funny trousers and a scarf moving into the country mansion of his best friend, a middle-aged sailor?" he wrote. :o

Tintin, the creation of Belgian Georges Remi -- whose pen name Herge comes from his initials, inverted and pronounced in French -- first appeared in 1929 along with his faithful companions Captain Haddock and trusty dog Snowy.

Translated into 60 languages, the cartoon books still sell upwards of two million copies per year.

Parris, a former British lawmaker who is openly gay, said Tintin's sexuality was obvious to anyone who reads the cartoon books closely.

His family background gives a first clue.

"Tintin never talks about his parents or family, as though trying to block out the very existence of a father or mother. As psychologists will confirm, this is common among young gay men," says Parris. :o

The fact that, while being nominally a journalist, he almost never files any stories, is also fishy -- fuelling speculation that he is a spy.

"As the remotest acquaintance with (for instance) British espionage will confirm, secret intelligence has always attracted gay men. :o I myself applied for and was offered a post in MI6."

The lack of women in his adventures is also suspicious -- only eight out of some 350 characters are identifiable as female.

While Tintin never shows any interest in girls of women, his canine sidekick is "unambiguously heterosexual," having a "tendency to be distracted by lady dogs: a tendency in which he is consistently foiled by his master." :o

"Pity this dog, wretchedly straight and trapped in a ghastly web of gay human males," says Parris.

Man speaks nonstop for 124 hours to set speech record

Frenchman Lluis Colet broke the world record for the longest speech after rambling nonstop for 124 hours about Spanish painter Salvador Dali, Catalan culture and other topics.

Three notaries were on hand to recognise the feat which allows Colet to enter it in the Guinness Book of Records.

The previous record was held by an Indian man who delivered a 120-hour speech.

Colet began speaking at Perpignan's railway station on Monday by reciting the works of famous authors or using some of his own writing. He also spoke profusely about Dali, a painter he admires, and Catalan culture.

Large crowds turned out in support of Colet, who received a rapturous applause at the end of his speech.

"This is a big day for me and I dedicate this record to all those who defend Catalan language and culture," he said, his voice fainter after five days of nonstop talking.

Colet had set the record once before in 2004 when he spoke for 48 straight hours.

Eleven-month-old boy accidentally dials 9-1-1 and gets dad arrested

By The Canadian Press

WHITE ROCK, British.Columbia - A B.C. man probably wishes he had given his 11-month-old son a set of keys to play with instead of a phone, after the infant accidentally dialled 9-1-1 and brought police to dad's marijuana grow operation.

Mounties say a 9-1-1 call came in from a White Rock, B.C. residence Friday morning but whoever was on the other end of the line hung up. Officers arrived at the residence and after numerous knocks on the door went unanswered, they entered the home.

"The gentleman was quite surprised," said White Rock RCMP Const. Janelle Canning.

She said the 29-year-old male, startled by the sudden sight of police, insisted he hadn't made the call.

When it was suggested a child might have dialled, the father objected and said his son was far too young.

That's when police spotted the baby boy, phone in hand.

"We saw him playing with the cordless phone and just pressing all the buttons, so evidently he had called 9-1-1," Canning said.

With that mystery solved, officers began inspecting the residence and soon discovered a 500-plant marijuana grow operation.

The father was arrested and will appear in court in early April on charges of production of a controlled substance and mischief.

The boy was removed from the home by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, though he was later released into his mother's custody.

The mother does not live in the residence and Canning says she had no idea what was going on at the home.

A teenager was arrested here two nights ago after he stole a snowmobile, rode it over to a local drugstore, and broke into the place hoping to steal some drugs. Police officers responding to a call about the stolen snowmobile simply followed the tracks over to the drugstore, where they found it parked.

They grabbed the kid as he emerged from the store, at which time he reportedly yelled: "I was just trying to get some Ambien!"

Perhaps the noise from all the snowmobiles has been keeping him awake? Or might he be one of those people on Ambien who do weird things while still technically asleep? The world will, in all likelihood, never know.

I did it once at home..it was embarrassing...and a bunch of people at work were accidentally dialing 911 instead of 9-1-then a long distance number...and the cops were getting rather ticked off having to come over to the building a couple times a day...

I actally called 112 today. That is our version of 911.

I was in the metro. I came back from a meeting. All of a sudden I heard sounds like people were screaming at eachother. This was happening behind me but it hadn't registered yet because the metro was kind of noisy. So I turn around and see a man and a woman having a very heated argument. The man was screaming and the woman was crying. He was pulling her by her jacket several times and was acting very aggressive and she looked scared.

He acused her of having plans to kill him together with a few people. She said nothing and was just crying. Or denied that that was going on. She looked afraid and he looked like he could hit her any moment. I would not be surprised if he does hit her. I thought that maybe they were a couple. Or that she was a hooker and he was her pimp.

Anyway, I saw the woman was frightened and I also notice that everybody was watching what was going on and nobody did something. I could understand that from the older people or the woman who was there with her child. But there were so many others there. I couldn't stand to look at it because I imagined how horrible and scary a situation like that must be. So I went over there and confronted the guy. I had hoped that would inspire others too to do something but no such luck.

The guy became all agressive towards me. He was screaming at me that I shouldn't interfere. I said that I will interfere if I see that a woman gets treated bad. He told me that she was his woman and that it was none of my business. I told him that it is my business if someone is treated bad. Then I took out my phone and he told me to go ahead and call them (the police) I told him that I most certainly would. That he could count on it.

Then my stop came and I got out. I did call the police. I called 112 because I didn't have another number. I didn't know how dangerous the situation really was. He screamed at me too but didn't come close to hit me. Of course I stayed away from him too. I want to help that woman but I am not stupid. I had no way of knowing if he would actually hit her. But everything was speculation. But his agression and her fear were a fact so I called anyway. I gave a description and said in which metro they were. I hope the police found them and that they could do something.

In all this what struck me most though was that nobody did something. I still can't believe it. I was so very angry. At the agressive guy. But I was just as angry at all the pasive people who were just watching. How can they live with themselves? He could have actually beaten her up. Or one could have stabbed the other. Or whatever. Would they still stay passive? I think I would have felt very ashamed of myself if I hadn't tried to do something. Even if it was just something as simple as calling the police. Anybody can do that. I really don't understand it.

LONDON (Reuters) - "Cello scrotum," a nasty ailment allegedly suffered by musicians, does not exist and the condition was just a hoax, a senior British doctor has admitted.

Back in 1974, in a letter to the British Medical Journal, Elaine Murphy reported that cellists suffered from the painful complaint caused by their instrument repeatedly rubbing against their body.

The claim had been inspired by reports in the BMJ about the alleged condition guitar nipple, caused by irritation when the guitar was pressed against the chest.

But Murphy, now a Baroness and a former Professor of Psychiatry of Old Age at Guy's Hospital in London, has admitted her supposed medical complaint was a spoof.

"Perhaps after 34 years it's time for us to confess we invented cello scrotum," she wrote with her husband John, who had signed the original letter, which was published in the BMJ Wednesday.

"Anyone who has ever watched a cello being played would realize the physical impossibility of our claim."

Murphy, who said the couple had been "dining out" on their story ever since they made it up, said they had decided to reveal the hoax after it was referred to in a recent BMJ article on health problems associated with making music.

She also said she suspected "guitar nipple" had been a joke.

There are TRUE dangers for women who play cymbals....not on a drumset but the kind in a band...2 that you hit together. One often needs to dampen them quickly to keep them from ringing in certain musical situations. The easiest way is to dampen them against your chest. My late, great percussion teacher, Peggy had a special "chest protector" made for her. She played in prominent symphonies and opera orchestras. It irked her NO END when a newspaper reviewer said he was "distracted" by the percussionist who was "always adjusting her bra strap."

Guess we'll just have to content ourselves with more bottles containing alcoholic beverages popping their caps and spewing foam. Which of course is not intended to be suggestive of anything.

Speaking of which... this commercial was taken off Dutch television (yes, it was banned ) Complaints were sent in because this is filmed from the perspective of the vagina. (no, you can't see anything Dave and Paul. Sorry) I kind of liked the commercial and I think it's silly that there were so many complaints. The commercial is for a product to clean the private parts.

I actually find that ad, Eva, pretty clever... I usually find that the Europeans have much funnier/clever ads than what get's through over here. Usually the only time something really good comes out on occasion is around the Superbowl.... although I haven't paid attention to the ads this year... only saw the Budweiser Clydesdale horse ad tonight, that's it.

LONDON (Reuters) - "Cello scrotum," a nasty ailment allegedly suffered by musicians, does not exist and the condition was just a hoax, a senior British doctor has admitted.

Me too. I think it's a pity it got taken off tv. There are much worse commercials. And the reason for the complaints ('looking' from vagina-perspective is considered indecent) is a bit silly I think.

Eva, i think the ad is very clever too. I don't think most people watching it would "get it" and the only thing that comes close to being racy is when the man is in the room and then it's his parts not hers that get edgy. dang you know with all the stuff on tv about female hygene, i think this ad is pretty tame.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Colorado Springs police are looking for a man who hit two 7-Eleven convenience stores early Wednesday, armed with a Klingon sword inspired by the Star Trek science fiction series.

The first robbery was reported at 1:50 a.m., at 145 N Spruce St. The clerk told police a white male in his 20s, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and wearing a black mask, entered the store with a sword.

The suspect demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount.

A half hour later, police received a call from a 7-Eleven at 2407 N Union Blvd, where a male matching the previous description entered the store with a sword. He also demanded money from the store clerk. The clerk did not give him any money and the suspect transported himself out of the store on foot.

Both clerks described the weapon as a Star Trek Klingon type sword, called a "Batleth."

Neither clerk was injured in the robberies.

now that was a tantrum!

I wonder if that worked when she was a child?

Where is airport security when you need them? If it had happened in the US chances are she would have ended up in handcuffs and carted off to the airport dungeon. And there would have been a crowd.

It looks as if someone finally did what everyone who has done any travel by air would like to at some point. Airlines do not listen to reason....unfortunately, they do not listen to this sort of outburst as well.

Heck, if it worked, everyone would be doing it by now.

A few days ago I was working out the details for a planned trip that involves air travel. Found a airfare for $206, which seemed more than reasonable, and started working out other things. I went back just this evening to make a reservation, only to discover that the same seats on the same planes on the same flights (which, mind, they did not fill up at $206) are now $446.

Fine. When they want to fill one of the empty seats, I'll be around.

Video of hysterical air passenger a hit
17th February 2009, 14:57 WST

A video of a middle-aged passenger throwing herself to the floor in a hysterical fit when she misses her flight has been watched by nearly 500,000 people on Monday after being posted online.

The three-minute video - which appears to have been surreptitiously shot with a mobile phone by a member of the airline ground staff - became an internet sensation after being posted on the video-sharing website You Tube last week.

It shows a Chinese woman going ballistic after arriving at her departure gate at Hong Kong International Airport for a Cathay Pacific flight to San Francisco only to find the plane is about to leave and her baggage has been offloaded.

The smartly-dressed woman, travelling with a man who appears to be her husband and another passenger, at first runs screaming towards the air bridge and has to be held back by an airport security guard.

She then retreats and begins beating the desk at the departure gate and wails at dumbstruck staff before throwing herself to the ground, screaming at Cathay staff: "This in inhumane ... what am I going to do, what am I going to do?"

As she flails around the ground, a suited supervisor at the departure gate helps her husband hold on to her arms and tells her "calm down, calm down", offering to make arrangements for her to catch a later flight.

The unidentified woman, who apparently spent too long shopping in the airport before going to the departure gate, continues to howl and scream furiously at staff despite the efforts of the supervisor and her grey-haired husband to pacify her.

The video was shot on February 4 when the woman, her husband and a third person not seen in the video arrived at 5.05pm the boarding gate for the flight CX782 to San Francisco - the time of the plane's scheduled departure.

A Cathay Pacific spokeswoman explained: "All passenger doors had already been closed, and the crew was preparing the flight for departure. As the passengers had failed to show up on time, we had already offloaded their checked baggage to comply with the security requirements.

"Our airport staff helped calm the female passenger and arranged for them to take a later flight CX880 that evening to Los Angeles." The next flight took off just a few hours later, although the woman appeared not to be aware at the time of her emotional outburst that she would only face a delay of hours.

The identity of the person who shot the video of the incident remains a mystery, although it appears to have been filmed from a staff position at the departure gate.

The Cathay spokeswoman insisted there had been no internal inquiry at Cathay into the posting of the video. "We do not know who shot the video or who posted it on the web," she said.

I have trouble understanding the popularity of this incident. Surely it is not isolated. Given that "air rage" is in the popular dictionary, how rare can it be?

Granted, this woman showed up late for a flight that was on time and her reaction was just plain childish. But more than once over the years, after a two hour flight lasted 26 and another lasted 13 and baggage once arrived not only on the wrong flight but on the wrong AIRLINE, part of me can only say, "good for you".

Mind, Cathay Pacific is noted for its excellent service. I wonder if she could be hired to perform for American, U.S. Air, or Northwest/Delta?

The train is not better. Hamburg - Rotterdam, usually a 5 1/2 to 6 hour trip max costed me 7 1/2 hours and I had to change trains 4 times. And they even wanted me to pay for this  I wasn't as angry as she was but chagrined enough.
