I hope you folks know what I'm talking about....simple pleasures or harmless amusements that just might get a raised eyebrow from those who have narrow-minded ideas of fun. For some it might be the smell of ether-based markers, for others, the meticulous process of prying those little black bits out from the corners of you toenails. Still others....well, feel free to submit your favorites.

My most recently acquired oddball delight is watching the movie "Soylent Green" while eating green-colored tortilla chips.

Next, please.

Singing the "Mewbies Patoobies" song to my cat, to the tune of the Soviet/Russian National Anthem:

Mewbies Patoobies, Mewbies Patoobies
Mewbies Patoobies, Mewbies Patoobies
Mewwwwbies Patooooobies
Mewwwwbies Patooooobies

Mewbies Patoobies Mewwwwbies
Patoo, ooo, ooo, bies!

I guess you have to be there. Actually, I think you'd rather not be.

I like to start sentences with the the word "And". This harkens back to when I was in fifth grade when I had my grade lowered on a paper for starting a sentence with this word. My reasoning at the time was that I, as a voracious reader, was noticing many authors starting sentences with "And". Good, quality authors.
And I became scarred for life, as you can see! ;) :p

Be at home in my pyjama's in the daytime, bum around on the couch, eat candy and chocolate and watch several episodes of SF series. The original Star Trek, Farscape, etc. My ideal sunday

What else...

Dress up real nice and get totally drunk on cocktails. Thing is only that last time I did that I sent out about 12 textmessages to butches I know telling them that I think they are beautiful and things like that. Most of them were laughing their heads off. Two of them had a really practical approach and replied with: "You'll get sober again. Let's have a date." :D

A lot of my other little pleasures are not messageboardfähig. I'll keep those to myself :o

Although one of them was very not disgusting. It was lovely. I watched several episodes of "Chef" with Redjack. While we were eating. We had a good time. I think Agnes and Kathy had enough of it a bit faster... :D

one thing i enjoy doing, if i'm in a place with a piano...doesn't matter where, someone's house, a place of business, a mental hospital...where ever. i wil sit down and pretend that i know what i'm doing and "play" for a good five minutes.
i have a principal of not washing my car, just because and not changing the oil cause when the red light goes on, i know i need to add some.
i'll come up with more

I guess my strange behavior is more normal. da ya thunk:D

If you chew it very thoroughly and then blow the results through a straw.... I recall having a fine time doing the same thing at movie theatres with Jujubes and aiming the results at girls with big hair (that would be when I was around 10). One other time I found some popcorn boxes on the floor and discovered that when flattened, they flew rather well. During an especially "inspirational" movie moment (believe that was BEFORE the rat ran over my brother's foot) I lofted one with a good spin to it and the thing went right through the screen.

Spent the rest of the movie trying to make myself very small after that but, oddly, no one seemed to notice.

Nothing off the wall here, but I love enjoying a little "octoberfest" with long lost friends...and well, I guess I just love beer.:o Anyway, pictured below is: me (the giant in the background, if my face is red it's because it's hotter up there), my girlfriend, and my college buddy Brian who I haven't seen in almost 15 years. We were at a place called "Gasthof Zur Gemutlischeit" (in fabulous northeast Minneapolis), and sharing the infamous "das boot." I'm sure many of you are not completely unfamiliar with drinking from a glass boot, but I just think it's funny because it looks like my girlfriend could fit her whole head in there...

Did anyone ever eat gradeschool paste when they were younger? I tried it a couple of times...actually it was quite good..lol. They use to say that it was made from horse hoofs. There it is...my secret revealed..

My grandmother was an old-school german immigrant farmer. When I was young, I went to her house every weekday when she moved to the city. She was always feeding me disgusting things like blood sausage, headcheese, beef and chicken heart, and the like. However, I'm ashamed to admit one of her strange ideas of edible animal parts stuck with me to this day. Whenever I'm eating fried lake fish, like sunnies and perch for example, I still eat the tail.:o The old school way to prepare sunny filets is to cut the head off, gut and filet the fish in halves with the tail still on, and beer batter fry it. The tail tastes like a potato chip, sort of...

That brings back a blast from the past. In grammar school we had an art teacher named Miss Wong. She was only a tad over four feet tall, and she had this pile up hair do that added another foot and a half. She also wore those black "cats eyes" glasses. She had a wicked temper. I was terrified of her. We used wheat paste in class. It came in big jars and she would dole it out to us scooping out globs with a ruler and smearing it onto little scraps of paper. The whole time she recited this mantra, "dooon't eeeeaaaattt the Paaaste!!! If she caught anyone with paste in their mouth, there was hell to pay.

I always heard it was Elmer's Glue that was made from horses hooves. You would not want to eat THAT. Blech.

Well, thanks, Rickster, now I am going to have nightmares about Miss Wong tonight. . .

My relatives think I'm weird since sometimes I'll eat the tails on shrimp or prawns...they're kind of crunchy (the tails, not my relatives!).

And, when I was a kid visiting my uncle's small farm and feeding the horses some grain, used to pick out the pieces of flattened corn to eat. Not nearly as good as popcorn, but must have liked it at the time (now I think "yuck!").

Don't think I ever ate the paste at school, but recall I liked the smell.

I've eaten fish and shrimp tails as well....presumably at the very least, a good source of fiber.

Elmer's Glue (and I think some school paste) was at one time made out of casein extracted from milk. Elmer's is now polyvinyl acetate and I have no idea on the paste. Mucilage may well be made from animal glue, as is the adhesive on some postage stamps and envelopes.

Gelatin is made from horses' hooves, along with certain parts of cattle that didn't make it for sausage filler.

Another movie theatre recollection. When both my brother and I were in my teens and much thinner and more limber than we are now, we were both able to fold our legs over our shoulders (back of each knee sat on top of each shoulder, leaving you looking more or less like a turtle) and walk around on our hands. We used to fold ourselves up during dark movie scenes, then start "walking" around the aisles--especially effective during horror movies.

Of course, this meant that our hands came into contact with the floor of the movie theatre. So....much disinfection was required afterwards.

You've probably guess it by now but we had a lot of time on our hands when we lived outside of a town of 2500 and weren't old enough to drink beer.
