The clue was in the location of the firm, Ben, plus it was an exceptional instrument, and I couldn't resist the knife :)

An' thank you massa for letting me off the bilges for a month. I'm a-startin' some sort of horrible disease, I swear! I think I caught it off this page!

Love Annabel x

Diverboy may never answer you....I think he is lost......somewhere.

Somebody could deliver it to him, but first they'd have to find him.
To find him, they might want to start with Lexa's clue - France! ;)

Just went on a search for Diverboy. His My Space page says he's been out of town, and it was posted on 1/4 so he's alive!! I sent him a message to come back to us so we can finish the game.

Please say it is so Dear Sara. Are you my Secret Santa???

EvaYep. Figured as much.

DarleneSorry, dear Darlene. I love your kitty, but I'm not your SS as that dubious distinction has already been taken by Amy. You and I both need a little HELP! at this point.

While I'm waiting for Elliott's response (where are you, Elliott?), I'll ask: Roady, are you my clever Secret Santa? I'm still clueless.

I should have know.......of course it may not be true and if it's not Sally then I hang my head in shame......

Thank you Sally!

While I'm waiting for Elliott and Roady, I'll take another stab at it. (I believe I've narrowed it down to this final three.) Amy, my clever Santee, are you not only my Santee, but my Secret Santa, as well? Hmm?

Has everyone given up now or what?

I'll repost what I asked before in case it was missed the first time around.

I think Elliott already responded "No," so I'm re-asking Roady and Amy, is it either of you?

Greener

I'm not sure I got an answer from Amy or Roady either. Anyone...anyone.....Ferris?

Dee, I thought you would never ask....

Are you my SS? From one scardy cat to another? If so, You melt my tooth!

You silly goose, it's YOU who's supposed to be doing the asking but sorry no, I am not you Secret Santa.

You finally guessed right!! Shucks I just sent Eva a new clue for you. Here it is. Would it have helped had I posted it earlier?

Some 12 string Trivia for you:

12 string electric guitars are common in folk rock genre of music. These guitars are used exclusively for playing rhythm and harmony. Folk artist Lead Belly is the most-noted 12 string electric guitar player. Roger McGuinn of the band ‘The Byrds’ and George Harrison of ‘The Beatles’ are credited for the popularity of electric 12 string guitars in rock and roll.
Then there's Tom Petty, New Christy Minstrels, and Glen Campbell. The Rolling Stones debut US single "Not Fade Away” featured a stunning 12 string acoustic lead.

Hope you are enjoying your new guitar!

Yay...Thanks Roady! Thanks for the lessons and all of the 12-string facts. I don't have the guitar yet. I just got an email from Janis saying she's sending it out next Monday so, it should be here by mid week.
BTW, what did your first clue mean?

I actually have 3/4 of a 12-string electric. It's a mid-60s Framus "Caravelle" (somewhat goofy electronics, but a very nice sound--sort of a poor man's Rickenbacker). And in beautiful condition....except that for reasons best known to them, someone apparently got tired of using it as a 12-string and sawed the end of the headstock off! It's a bolt-on neck, and given a small miracle, perhaps one day I'll find another that fits (Framus made several hollow-body 12-string electrics and as far as I can tell, they all take the same neck). Until then....it does play beautifully as a 6-string but I'd love to be able to restore it. Love the sound of a 12-string, and electrified....all sorts of possibilities come to mind. I've been searching for years now, and it seems that the part just isn't to be had anywhere.

By the way, Framus guitars, though not terribly expensive on the used market for the most part, are quite nicely made ("hand-crafted in Bavaria" mine says) and the action on every one I've tried has been truly "comfy". They had laminated necks, which I suspect are indestructible....never have encountered one with the all-too-common vintage bent neck.

I believe I've narrowed it down to Amy because I've ruled out everybody else. (I guess diver_boy was replaced by Eva, and she's already been taken.) So that would make Amy not only my Santee but my Secret Santa, as well. (Unless I made a mistake and that's always a possibility. :o) Amy?? Are you there?

Amy and I were Secret Santas to each other - what are the chances of that! Amy was my last guess because I didn't think the chances of that happening were too great. (Isn't it always your last guess? That's like when I misplace my keys, they're always in the last place I look . . . ;))

Thanks, Amy, for a very thoughtful and much needed gift. Thanks, Eva, for all you've done.

Thanks. It was my pleasure. I had fun :D

Karen, I am sorry it turned out this way for you. I could find a solution by stepping in myself so you would have a Secret Santa. But I couldn't replace your Santee. I hope you still had fun. And I am sure that if he could have been able to collect your gift he would have loved it. I don't know where he is and I hope it's nothing seriously bad. I guess he'll tell us when when he comes back.

Haha! We'll see by then Maybe by then I am on a tropical island with no internetconnection, sipping margarita's while I lounge in my hammock. Or I'll be on the moon with no internetconnection, drinking spacefood while I float around in my spacecabin. We don't know yet...

Secret Valentine eh...? What a concept.

Sara
01-11-2009, 09:41 PM
Hmm, that just might be do-able. But how would it be done differently? (other than the name of the game, that is.)

Eva, no internet connection on the moon? I don't think I could survive that. (And I'm not too sure about seeing you in those bulky, covered space shoe thingies, ever think about that? :()
