View Full Version : Winter
I-am-soooo-cold. Right down to my bones :( And I even have some meat / fat on my hips to warm me. But it doesn't seem to help. I'm going to bed now. At least it's warm there... :(
How is your winter? Are you freezing your bodyparts off too?
PS: the first Aussie, Kiwi or anyone else who makes fun of the cold gets it :p I know it's summer where you are but have some pity on us please :(

Eva--I wish I could help you warm up! ;) Here in the central US it was 5 degrees (f) when I woke up Monday morning, yesterday it was 65, and it's been everywhere in between. (As Bat said, "I'm waiting for the earth to crack!") I layer the clothes. Monday was many, many layers; today not so many. Also in my favor I have a relatively new furnace in my house and my car has excellent heat. I don't have to walk much outside. Sending you warm thoughts and hugs.
Today it was 70F in Cincinnati.
Tomorrow, cold and windy.
Last week, snow, ice, freezing rain.
Odd.
Typical Cincinnati early winter.

I live in snow country. By choice. I have always lived in snow country.
I used to work out doors. I have lived in some pretty rickety houses with marginal heating systems.
I was never one to feel the cold. Then came menopause! I use to zip up my jacket when the temperature got down to 0. Since the "internal heat" went up, I truly almost never have to zip up!
My problem comes in the summer. There is only so much you can take off. Thank god my office has AC! Anything over 75 is too hot for me!

That's the reputation Melbourne once had for crazy weather, but all in one day:D Freezing rain or any rain would be welcome these days.

It was rather balmy in Indy, today. Warm, (around 70F), windy, humid and grey. YUCK!! Heating systems in public buildings are nuts, because when it's "heating season," by god, it's "HEATING SEASON!" Lots of rain, and we had freezing rain 3 times last week. There were 7 deaths in central Indiana attributed to the icy roads.
Just days ago, it was down around 0 degrees, and today it looked like perfect weather for a tornado. Go figure.
So Eva, dear, I'm sending you some warm, moist Hoosier air.

96% of the Earth's population lives in a warmer climate than I do. I think they know something I need to learn.
This may also explain why so many of the area residents are insane.
My clothes froze when I hung them out to dry... :o
I am not going anywhere.

-8 degrees c here in Budapest, Hungary.
flying back to warmer climes in the UK on Tuesday.
The Sound Of Music was shown here on the 25th. I sometimes rent it when I am alone so I can sing along with all the songs :o I sometimes do that with Shrek too so I can imitate all the voices :o Now I was at my mom & dad's, so I didn't sing out loud all the time. We enjoyed seeing it again though :) All three of us.
I guess I will have to wait untill my clothes defrost again, Mary :D

I "heard" it was 50 degrees today...i don't believe it. the temp has hung around 30 the last 3 days and around 10 the week before. once it dips down below 70, i'm chilled to the bone ( except for the hot flashes...they just warm me up till the cold hits again) Tracy has been caring for me, waiting on me hand and foot the last 2 days cause i have the flu...i haven't had the flu since i was 11 years old. I'm just waiting for the pnuemonia to kick in. no biggy, it'll be over in a week or so. i have to tell you Tracy is the best thing that has ever happened to me since my own mom gave me life and taught me how to live.

Feel better, Hoopy...you're lucky to have Tracy to minister to your ills...she's a gem. Keep her.
Feel better fast, Noel! You're very dear to all of us!

I received the DVD of this movie for Christmas, plus Peggy has been practicing playing "My Favorite Things" on the piano, but for the rest of the week I'm sure that the goatherd song is gonna be the ear worm in my ear because of YOU Mary. LOL

Eva,
I always have soup around if you wanna visit...it's canned but it'll do when it's cold. I only make real soup for my dad, with leftovers...or if someone puts in an order with a days notice.

For awhile, it was really cold here, too. And my heat wasn't working. (In my house, I mean. My personal body heat is fine.) So I had a repair guy come out and he replaced the control board. So it worked again - for about a week or so. Then it got warm here. Good thing, too, 'cause the heat stopped working again. Had the repair guy return. This time, he put in a whole new motor. Heat works, now! (I still really like my virtual Snuggie gift from my Secret Santa, though!)

This is NOT a good time for a heater to stop working. I had the same thing last year. There was a leak in my CV installation which caused the motor to get all rusty. It was stuck. I needed a new one. Luckily I rent my place and the CV installation is included. I didn't have to pay extra for the new one. Phew!
I am going to the sauna next week. And maybe I'll have an artificial sunbath. It warms up my muscles and my bones. Or at least; it feels that way :o That would be nice.

I have HAD IT with winter! We've already had as much snow as a typical year, six weeks of constantly below-average temperatures, and right now the sun sets at about 4:15 in the afternoon! I HATE IT! My car is even making groaning noises!
If any of you come on here and complain that you are too warm I am going to go to wherever you live, drag you here, tie you to my desk, and move into your house! And the cat is going with me!
So there.

And I'll move in with you. Please leave your present housemate exactly where she is now.

I just got back from a bit of food shopping to get me through tomorrow when everything will be closed for New Year's Day. It's -16°C and feeling like -25 with the wind chill. Of course now that I'm back the sun comes out. Fortunately, no need to go out again till Friday.
