..... for the moment. I had my doubts especially when they put her in a nursing facility because I've seen that as a first step to the end of existence for many people. As of last report (last week) when she (Holly) got a call from the head cancer doc in charge of her case, she's fine.

They took half her stomach. They took one of her kidneys. They've poked, prodded, explored, taken this, that, the other, and who knows what all else and were/are prepared to do even more if need be but at the moment she's fine. The chemo drug they've got her on is knockin' down what cancer is still tryin' to get her (in her colon) but as long as she keeps taking it she's fine and looks to be fine.

This is a GREAT holiday tale to tell and share!

WOO-HOO!

Rudievibes are still coming from me too. What a hell of an operation that must have been. Poor woman... :( But I am glad she is doing better now. I am very happy for you too Paul

It wasn't just one operation. She's been in and out getting various parts of her taken out or repaired for a couple of years now. First she had half her stomach removed last year (stromal tumor), then she got a sinus infection that was so bad that the pressure cracked her skull (they put in a plate to fix it), and most recently they took one of her kidneys. She's a "tough ol' broad" I've got to give 'er that. :p What she's been through I wouldn't wish on ANYBODY!

And Dee,.. it's GREAT news!

Mah Gawd! She must have had the mother of all headaches with that sinus infection bad enough to crack her skull...unbelievable! If she could survive that, she is probably good for a long time yet...I do hope the radiation is very effective and that she makes a full recovery!
Happy New Year to you and her.

What happened with the sinus infection was that the pressure created inside the sinuses by the infection cracked the skull,.... kind of like a pressure cooker. She's not undergoing radiation. She's undergoing chemotherapy in pill form by way of a drug called Gleevec.

Not only for the patient but for all those around the patient as well. I swear,... nurses make the worst patients - EVER!

If she wasn't a fighter she would not have made it this far.

I'm grateful for her progress and recovery and for you Paul for hanging in there for her. WOO-HOO!!
