I saw this story on the evening news last night. Whatever you believe it does make you think....

I read a book recently that reminds me of this. It was "Through A Glass Darkly" By Jostein Gaarder which moved me a lot. And yes, I do believe in angels.

Several years ago, my dear friend had both of her knees replaced at the same time. It was best to do them at the same time due to other health concerns, etc... but I digress. After she came home from the hospital, she began going to PT three times a week. The PT place would send a van, and she would spend several hours working out and learning how to use her new knees. My friend is a larger lady, and I have a bad back, so I'm pretty useless when it comes to lifting and moving things.... I can do it, but I usually end up for two weeks in bed with my back in agony, and then I can't work, etc.... I took her out for her first lunch after a couple of weeks; she was doing fine, and getting cabin fever, and we just wanted to go out. She wanted to go to a local Bar-b-que joint near her home that I had never been to before. We got out of the car and walked into the restaurant and I ordered the food and brought it to the table. They had four tops, with rather small, lightwieght legs, and no armrests and were pretty low to the gound as restaurant chairs can be. When we finished our meal and my friend tried to stand up, she couldn't. No way. She was sitting too low to the ground, and neither I, nor the small ladies working in the restaurant were able to help her. I thought we would have to call 911. It wasn't funny, my friend was in pain, and there was no help in sight. Within moments, the biggest man I have ever seen in real life walked in the door; he was a tree. Not fat, just huge and strong. He looked at me and said "do you need a little help". I said "please", and he walked over to my friend, put his arms unders her arms, and gently, and seemingly light as a feather, lifted her to her feet. We thanked him for his help and he said his sister sometimes needed his help standing up. He said hello to the ladies behind the counter, smiled at us and left. I was stunned. I asked the owners if he was a regular, or if he came in often, and they said they had never seen him before. By the time we walked the ten feet to the door he was out of sight. And you ask me if I believe in angels! Why yes, I do. I also believe in the old man upstairs, whatever it is you call him. I also believe that we make our own Heaven or Hell and we are all living in it right now. So (insert whatever name you call your lifeforce here) bless you all and have a wonderful, happy, loving holiday. I just watched Caberet on the big screen; it's good to remember that while we are here, it ain't that long a stay. With love, Ellott
