Until we sell the IL house I'm still a state resident and vote via absentee ballot in IL. Although we have had (and still have) some very good leaders in IL, Blagojevich is the fifth of the past eight governors charged with a crime. It doesn't matter, Rep of Dem, too many of our governors seem to create their own state coffers and retirement funds...then there was Paul Powell, the sec of state who had closets full of shoeboxes filled with over $800,000 cash when he died...Eva, is that a proper use of shoeboxes?

As an Illinois neighbor I have been watching the latest drama with interest. It brings to mind the best metaphor I've ever encountered: "every politician is a sewer of ambition." At least ONE politician from Illinois may have the welfare of the people before himself!

Well... I use my shoeboxes much in the same way to be honest... I mean, I wear the shoes, so the boxes can serve other purposes...

I read 'Pirate' instead of 'Plate' anyway... :p

I wonder if you'll be able to request a signed, numbered license plate?

Perhaps they should have just let Al Capone run things. You can bet there'd be no deficit....

Well Joan, just look at it this way, the crooked politicians who get their faces on license plates will get to be making plates after they are convicted. Will the circle be unbroken . . .

Minnesota is in the process of adopting a new license plate which will be laser-printed or some such. The state prison at St. Cloud is fighting the change, as it will cost them what has been their major industry for generations.

I guess all job creation comes at a price...

Twenty-five percent of Chicago aldermen have been sent to prison since the '60s.

But does Illinois come close to Louisiana for corruption? That's been the gist of some stuff I've been reading. Per capita, Illinois. For brazenness, Louisiana no contest.

When Edward Long was running for governor in Louisiana he said we have to defeat this guy or there will be nothing left to steal.
