View Full Version : Need major Rudie vibes

Hi all,

I just got a call from my mom tonight informing me that my dad was just diagnosed with bladder cancer. He will be having surgery on December 9th. It appears to be small, but the doctors won't know for sure until the surgery. Cancer is never a surprise in my family (everyone seems to get it), but that doesn't make it any easier. Please just send Rudie vibes toward southern Illinois if you can. I know they work.

Looks like I made it onto the board just in time. Thank you in advance to my Rudie family.

Thank you everybody. And Lesa, I will be sending serious Rudie vibes to your husband as well.

I'm mainly concerned about my dad's ability to withstand a 4 hour surgery (they're going to try to repair his prostate as well) since he has had some serious heart issues in the past. And my mom's little brother is currently dealing with terminal bladder cancer with mets to his kidneys and liver. He's very close to my parents so I worry about my dad thinking he will suffer the same fate. And of course since I work in nuclear medicine and work with cancer patients every day, I have heard some amazing stories as well as some horrendous stories. I have to keep my imagination in check. So I will keep the faith if you folks keep the Rudie vibes coming. Thanks again!

Rachel and Lesa, and anyone else here who may be worried for someone who is ill - I add my positive thoughts to those already shared here. I too have plenty of family who have dealt with cancer and a dear friend who is recovering from chemo & radiation for throat cancer, so I know your pain. The holidays are particularly tough going when something like this is happening. Keep the faith, and know that you are never alone.

HI, Rachel! thank you for the kind words and to everyone else also. This is no doubt the hardest thing we've been thru. We're headed to Houston Texas on Monday, M.D. Anderson, to have some tests run and find out what we have to do.

I'm sending you all my vibes and thoughts for your father. You all are great! anyone who is a big janis fan is ok with me! :)

Her music has gotten me thru many hard times. What a lovely lady! I spoke to her on Nov 1 when she was in Tulsa, OK. she's just so sweet!! and great to her fans. Janis's music is really helping me get thru this. The waiting is sooooo hard isn't it? Take Care to all, have a great Thanksgiving, knowing now what the most important things are! family and friends and time together. Everytime I see a star, i wish that my friends could be closer to Oklahoma. Yes, KSG, u are the first one i'd wish to see!

best to everyone on the whole board!!

Please re-up those vibes, folks. 'Paw' (Jim) is having surgery today.
We are all on pins and needles... trying to work but worrying and wondering.

Rachel's Mom will call as soon as he is out of surgery... but it's a waiting game until then.

Please say a prayer this morning, ok?

Thanks Rudie Family,

I just got the call that my dad is out of surgery and in recovery. He did okay during the surgery, but I'll have to talk to my mom later tonight to find out the prognosis for his cancer. One thing at a time though. I'm just thankful at the moment. Thank you everyone for your Rudie vibes!

Kath,

Michelle did get your message, but she's knocked out by a nasty cold at the moment. :(

My dad did just fine during the surgery, and the doctor believes he removed all of the cancer although he'll be keeping a close eye on him from now on. It'll take a couple of weeks before he starts feeling better, but he's on the road to recovery thanks to Rudie vibes. I'm sure he'll be much happier tomorrow after the catheter comes out. He's usually not a very cooperative patient. ;)

Thanks again to everybody!

Glad to hear the news, so far, is positive. Continued healing Rudie vibes from me, as well. Think a good thought - my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer 5 or 6 years ago and continues to manage it successfully with injections and oral medication. Medical research and treatment options continue to advance; there are many, these days, who do well.

Reallly glad to hear the good news so far, Rachel..will he need chemo, or doesn't the doc think he needs it? Keep us posted, and give the guy a hug from the Old Bat!
It must be fun to take a walk down the hall with a catheter in (or don't they let them do that?)...like being led around by the ..well, not a good feeling.
You're right...he'll feel much better about that being out tomorrow!
May he have a complete and uneventful recovery!
