OK, aNOTHER job! I'll still sew for www.angelicagracedesigns.com, but this new one kind of fell into my lap.

Bernina is the brand of sewing machine(s) I use, and have come to know the women at the "store" inside Hancock Fabrics. They needed someone to teach people who buy new machines. It would be on my schedule, not too many hours, etc. On Friday, the manager called to ask me to come in so we could finalize things, and she had "something else" to talk to me about. She told me that one of the other 2 women is leaving, and she needed to hire someone, and wanted me. Threw me for a loop, as I had no idea! Sooo, I said I would.

Even though I've been sewing for more than 50 years, these new hi-tech machines sometimes baffle me. I still am "learning" my own! She says I will do fine. Uh, does she know I'm tech-tarded?

I'm sure it will be fine.

So if anyone is in the market for a sewing machine... ;)

Mixty, are ya listenin'? :p

You betcha I'm listenin' ! I must also admit that I'm baffled by new machines and haven't even learned how to use my semi-new White sewing machine, but hey, I'm willing to drive to your Hancock store for lessons on a Bernina! Are you planning to sell the machine you recently bought? I look forward to one day owning my own "Designs by KAREN" haute couture! (however it's spelled!)

What wonderful, fun news for you! My grandmother used to make clothes on an old black Singer machine, and I will never forget the smell of the Hancock store. It made my mother's eyes burn. One question.... why do people sew when there's hot glue guns? Not great for the dryer (that's a mistake you only make once), but it works great in a pinch.

Congratulations Karen!

btw, I drove past Sweetie Pie's the other night and thought of you and the wonderful Rudie dining experience we had with Dar and Marjan.

Another good thing about this job: nobody cares if you wear your crocs ;)

Way to go Karen! Sorry, no sewing machine for me but I bow down to your expertise and talent with those things. (My Home Ec teacher from junior high got closer to her grave the year she tried to teach me. I sure did love those slalom races we used to do on scraps of material...broke many a sewing machine needle haulin' a** through the course we drew on the fabric. Some how she didn't appreciate the technical skills we were practicing.) I know you'll do a great job, have some fun, and teach the sewers (is that a word?) to move to the next level or two.

...and remember, when a student raises his or her hand, use the ole Wheaton reply..."I see that hand, I see that hand..."
