I have to confess, I don't really care about being called a "mediocre singer" - art is subjective, after all. I do object to being called the enemy of white supremacists, though. It's way too limiting. Anyone with half a brain knows I'm the enemy of white supremacists, black supremacists, orange, yellow, pink, green supremacists - in short, any group that things by virtue of an accident of birth, they're better than any other group.
And here's the sweet email from "Nick" that tipped us off!

You may be aware that you appeared today in a feature on boingboing.net (http://boingboing.net/), about white supremacists in support of Obama and black nationalists in support of McCain. Though the specific reason was a bit murky, you personally were cited by one of these sites as a leading threat to the white race. (You were also cited as a "mediocre singer," which brings the author's judgement into sharp question, but the point stands nevertheless.)
Ms. Ian, you are a cultural icon with a devoted following of which I have long considered myself a member. Today, we live in turbulent and difficult times, and whatever you did to provoke these racial dialogues is sure to lead only to dangerous and revolutionary notions that may not be containable. The potential impact of such dissent upon the world we live in is a grave enough matter, but I am more concerned about how this apparent rabblerousing of yours in the name of diversity will affect me, personally.
Ms. Ian, I am a second-generation fan and have been very pleased with you over the years for your stances on a wide array of issues. But I am also a very busy man. And if you keep distracting me with all of these new reasons to like you, I may never get ANYTHING done. Please take this into consider in your future behavior.

But in case you're in a hurry, yes, you're awesome -- my mom, my boyfriend, my girlfriend and I all love you and the things you've said and sung. Was great to see your early SNL clip on Boingboing, too! I used to watch SNL in reruns with my mother and late father, and "At Seventeen" was an early glimpse into what it was like for the young women around me, a vital part of my gender education. So that was heavy, happy nostalgia. And we all howl with delight every time to stick the boot up the RIAA! Please just keep doing everything you're doing. *hearts* )

As long as nobody tries to bodily harm Janis I don't think it really matters what anyone says. I worry. How dangerous is this group of white supremacists?

Eva, the Ku Klux Klan have been known to strike terror into the hearts of the blacks by burning crosses on their front lawn (while wearing white sheets to conceal their identity), and 'skinheads' have even been known to lynch blacks, and murder others with whom they disagree.(Matthew Shepard).
Not a bunch you want to fool around with, but should be brought to the limelight and shown for what they are: Dangerous Bigots.

The Klan and their ilk have a serious problem with Jews, Catholics, and pretty much anyone who is not a fellow inbred yahoo.
Pardon a foray into the realm of the tasteless, but if they burn a cross in a Jewish person's yard, isn't that a bit of a mixed message? Not that I would expect most of them to be capable of assembly a Star of David correctly, of course, but I do wonder about such things.

when hate is involved, there is always a real danger, mostly because hat usually comes from people who think with their guns and knives rather than with their hearts and minds. maybe not AS intense, buit Janis is "on the line" just like she was over 40 years ago when she was singing "society's child" i'm not sure if that is a statement on how little we've changed or on how very much we need an evolution after the reign of the bushies,and, the reagan's. i know we are WAY overdue for evolution.

The truly amusing thing about the likes of the KKK is that they almost invariably bill themselves as "Christian organizations". I suspect that the only way to get any of the content of the Bible through their thick skulls would be to hit them repeatedly over the head with an especially large hardbound copy. Expecting them to be able to read, after all, is a bit much.

A very dear friend of mine Robert, writes for the gay agenda.
I was telling him about the article and accusations they have made toward Janis, and some of the things she's had to endure, and we were sad to think that in this day and age this #%*# still goes on. So Robert decided to write his own article, and this is it.:cool:

Janis did assure us, once upon a time, that we absolutely did not want to see the contents of The Nut File. Whether because of the sheer nuttiness or whether because some of us are in it, she did not say.
We can clone some Pats as well....if we get the assembly line going properly, everyone can have their own Janis and Pat. The originals can sit at home and collect royalties.
I think that I'm in the nutfile too. Ever since I invented the Evil Pirate Queen. Uh-oh... :D

For the record, I have never contacted Janis and asked for any of her underwear. But I have a strong suspicion that some people in the file may have done just that.
No, I was not given a "peek". I figure there are some things best left unknown and if Janis says so that's good enough for me.

Can't help but recall a cartoon I saw some years ago. It had three panels, in each of which, a slightly odd-looking guy was delivering one line.
Panel 1: "My girlfriend broke up with me".
Panel 2: "She said I'm too obsessive and fixated on her".
Panel 3: "Gee, I wish she'd told me before I carved her name into my chest".
Possibly a nut file candidate. And I doubt any of us meet the standard....then again, there are those of you who have the Rude Girl inked on you somewhere....
For my part, due largely to circumstances beyond my control, I have not been able to see Janis in performance since Janismania 2004. Not only do I strongly suspect that I have not made the Nut File, I'm not sure how secure my Rudie title is....
It really stinks not living anywhere even remotely convenient to a few decent concert halls.
Ever think about performing in Hibbing, MN for "Dylan Days", Janis? The auditorium is a treasure, and I could easily contact those who organize the event (generally in late May--past performers have included Maria Muldaur and the band which played on "Blood On The Tracks"). I can tell you where the better and quieter restaurants are, will find you discreet accomodations, and promise not to let my housemate anywhere near you.
