Today in Maine, it was the 9th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship. Teams compete for the grand prize of the wife's weight in Bud Light beer plus cash. Teams are comprised of a male and female competitor, however the female does not need to be the legal wife of the male. Teams also have the option to have the male carried by the female if they so choose. (video from 2006)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjASMk6TIXE
So any takers for next year .... what do you think .... Gisli & Kata? Come to Maine and test your skill :D

So what does the wife get out of this deal (besides a drunken husband)?
And if you are Mormon, do you get to carry all your wives?

Can you carry a RudieWife? And if someone carried Song, would they also have to carry Peppermint?
Inquiring minds wanna know.
I don't have a RudieWife, but would be happy to give away the beer, if anyone's interested. We can split the cash.

davem, but you are an honorary lesbian and since it is maine, gay marriage is not yet legal so you could carry any woman who would allow people to think of her as a lesbian for a day.

rudiewives do count...ask any of em
mormon wives, yes, as it is their duty to be your wife
Bud light...who else would come up with such a drunken event

Can you carry a RudieWife?
Karen & Dar can. So any other Rudie can too. Even you, Dave.
But, is it allowed for David to carry his sister Agnes?
Just hope no one gets confused and starts tossing the wife
I am afraid people might get confused while most Rudiewives are kind of vertically challenged

Alas, Hoops....I don't even have a RudieWife at present. Who might be a good choice, and furthermore, willing? After all, there isn't much involved, but the benefits are commensurate.

I won't Eva....mind, there was one who would be exceptionally easy to carry, but I haven't the faintest idea where she might be....mercy of mercies.
