Randy & Betty in Pa

Hey everybody...

Why do I ask? Guess I'm just curious but hey you never know how many rudies might be living just down the road a bit.... So if your inclined to state your location I for one would find it interesting... You know just city and state... nothing to specific... Just enough so we know who our neighbors are...

Randy & Betty and we are from Palmer Township, Pa... Which carries an Easton, Pa. mailing address.... We are on the outskirts of a city of approximately a population of 65,000... Two miles from the New Jersey State line... If your goint to travel Interstate 78 into Pa. from Jersey your within just a couple miles of the house...

Vergennes, VT, a suburb of Middlebury. The "west coast" of Vermont. We are in the valley formed by Lake Champlain between the Green Mountains in Vermont and the Adirondacks in New York.

Many people don't realize that you can navigate from Canada via Lake Champlain and the Champlain Canal to the Hudson River, and from there.. well... you know the rest.

Vergennes is the smallest (in area: 2 sq miles) incorporated city in the US and the oldest incorporated city in Vermont. It is home to the last natural impediment to navigation on the Otter Creek on its journey from the Rutland area to the big lake. The channel from the falls in Vergennes out to the lake is deep water. Vergennes was founded as a ship building town for this reason.

I was born in Kansas City, Missouri (USA) and lived there until I left for college, Washington University, in St. Louis. I'm still in St. Louis (have been for almost 40 years, now). For those who may know St. Louis, I live just a stone's throw from Wash. U., known for Vice Presidential debates.

Where does the time go?!

At some point during War War II my parents lived in Easton, PA. My mother always thought it was the prettiest place she had ever seen. I was born in Birmingham, AL but we moved to Cypress, TX when I was a wee one, actually three. Now Cypress is considered to be far Northwest Houston. I live in a condo in Spring Branch, one of the oldest suburbs in Houston, just outside of Loop 610. I can be just about anywhere in Houston in ten minutes with no traffic. I was graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, and other than a two year stay in LA, and college, Houston has been my home. My sisters (four of them) live all over the place. Otherwise everyone I love is in Houston, so that's why I'm here. Hope that's not TMI. Love, Elliott

though only 100 miles north of NYC we are known as being in Upstate NY. I say i live in Saugerties because that is where i was born and lived most of my life. though now i actually love in Kingston NY which is just slightly north of Saugerties and just east of woodstock...to me it's all pretty much the same. lots of trees and country, not much big business, but enough city to make me want to be among the trees and streams nearby. reight ]off the husdon river and nestled in the heart of the hudson valley. i'm "called" to live here at this point in my life, tho i've lived in at least 5 other states. we have all the seasons in all their glory, and while i'm not a fan of the cold weather cause it hurts my body, i love the beauty of the snow and the challenge of the drive. when time comes for me to go, i will still have a big bit of my heart here...in upstate NY

Pocatello, Idaho
Southeastern quarter/corner of the state.
Pocatello is pronounced "poke-uh-tell-oh".... NOT "pawk-uh-tell-ho" :p
Pocatello is named after a local Shoshoni tribal chief. I may be wrong about that in that Chief Pocatello may have been a chief of the Bannock tribe but I can't remember for sure which. The local reservation (Fort Hall) is commonly billed as the home of the "ShoBans".... Shoshoni Bannock, both tribes in combination.

Mary, there's a center to Burrville? Really? Wow...

Yeah, I didn't grow up around Torrington area (not the schools or anything), so I actually don't know much about that area specifically. I grew up a stones throw out of Litchfield... Talk about tiny. No wonder I like going to school in a tiny town.

Eva

yes, there's quite a bit of it, with some pretty old trees... but not as much as when most of the country was a forest.

Interestingly, the hospital I go to see my pysychologist at is in the middle of nowhere in Sherwood Forest- I wonder if Robin Hood was a patient there too, and whether mental illness explained his robbing behaviour

No, but it's almost in my back yard.... kind of. It's in a place where I used to hunt, four-wheel, and play around a lot as a much younger man. It's about a mile (maybe two) northwest of me.

Yes, the "center" of Burrville, if there is such a thing has 3 rudies in it... weird how we never even met. Except Song and I of course.

When I am not spending my time living in small towns in nowhere Connecticut I go to university in Roanoke, Virginia. At Hollins University... very small all women liberal arts university.

Roanoke, Virginia. At Hollins University... very small all women liberal arts university.

Peppermint: If you are at Hollins, are you doing any riding? When I was a wee teen, I went to camp in Maine, and the horses and head instructors for the summer were from Hollins, including Nancy Peterson, who is now Director of Riding at Hollins.

Peppermint
10-08-2008, 07:30 PM
I am not actually doing any riding. I want to, considering I rode throughout high school, but it costs $900 per semester! Yes, Nancy has been around Hollins forever apparently... I was talking to some ladies running the Grey Hound Rescue in the area and they asked me if she was still there, and of course, she is.

That's interesting that the riding program made it all the way up to Maine some time back. I wonder if they still do that sort of thing...
