New Dawn Gallery update - Autumn Invitational

This is for the online gallery website that I set up and maintain for my father and one of his former students. The online gallery is empty for the moment except for the announcement seen below. Examples of the work exhibited at this particular exhibition should show up within the next few days. The photos have to be taken, captioned, and uploaded. Here's the announcement for what -will- come.

Autumn Invitational

The New Dawn Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement and understanding of the Fine Arts in Pocatello. It opened in November 2006 and has consistently been a favorite among the strolling public of the Art Walk.

The Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the exhibit will run for two months through November, 2008. For more information call 226-4226.

And it really will look "very cool" when I get through hanging it here in just a few minutes. :D I know most of the artists' work that I'll be hanging and this show should be a good one. There are some really good local artists featured in this show and so far they've done quality stuff,... not just "mommy got a paint set so now she's an artist" type of stuff. :D

Whoa! Don't getcher knickers in a twist. I meant nothing. I didn't mean to insinuate anything. I didn't mean or think anything at all other than to express the fact that this was one exhibition I am actually looking forward to.

Just got back from hangin' the thing and I forgot it's a LOT more work than one would at first think. Up and down the ladder, again and again and again. Back and forth across the gallery again and again and... Lift this. Hold that. Move it here. Move it there. Stand back and take a look to see what the spacing is. OOPS! Too high. Oops! Too low. Take it a little to the left. A little to the right. Increase the spacing because it's too crowded. There's an empty space there. GAWD this thing is about 50 pounds or better. Do we need two hooks? Whoa! This one's really light. Why can't these "artists" learn how to make a decent frame or learn not to use hanging wires that are too loose? These vinyl coated hanging wires are really nice on the hands when you're trying to hang the pictures but they sure SUCK when it comes time to adjust for level.

You get the picture so to speak. Final adjustments come tomorrow and then they get photographed and another set of things need to be done before posting on the website.
