I just got this from my daughter-in-law today and I was <insert adjective of choice here>. My reply is below at the bottom of all this. I'll put it in a quote box at the bottom to set it apart. I took it easy on her and was as nice as I could possibly make myself after 5 or 6 re-writes. Pick it to death and shoot back whatever you wish and maybe I can pick up some ideas on how to further respond other than what I've done. Keep in mind that this is the woman that my son chose to be his wife and I have to be nice. Well, I guess I don't have to but I choose to as much as possible. I don't know whether or not -she- believes this way but I certainly hope not. Here it is below unedited, pasted right in from my email program that I've got open right now.

YEAH - WITH HIS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE, HE 'HOPES' THAT HE COULD BE A "UNITER" AND BRING US ALL TOGETHER;
BUT - WE ARE LEFT TO THINK THAT THE REAL 'HOPE' IS, THAT HE REALLY HOPES THAT NO ONE WILL PUT ALL THESE PIECES TOGETHER, AT LEAST NOT UNTIL AFTER THE ELECTION.

I suggest you do some research on your own before you send out stuff like this in the future. Your first clue should have been that the sender sent it to you in all upper case letters. That is something common to spammers and we should all be aware of what -that- signifies.

If you want independent resources for actual facts rather than questionable theories then by all means ask and you shall receive. An -excellent- place to start is at FactCheck.org. They're completely independent and not partisan in any way, shape, form, or variety.

When I see this I have to just shake my head and give a deep and heavy sigh. This is the type of intellect(?) that has put us all in the truly rotten situation that we're all in now. If we don't change it somehow and get to the actual truth of things then you can kiss any kind of reasonable solution a fond farewell because it's not going to get any better.

Much of what you read in that diatribe above is a result of extremely incomplete and biased (perhaps bigoted) information, not based on fact, based on complete fabrication, and possibly outright lies. Do your homework first.

The -one- section in the diatribe above that's true is the last four words, "Get out and vote." Just please do so in an -informed- manner. Vote indeed but do so armed with the facts rather than biased opinion and innuendo. The future of the country (and perhaps the whole planet) and all the citizens within it depend on factually informed voters speaking their opinions and making their preferences known at the polls.


Did I go easy enough on her but still get the point across? It shows a DEMAND for attention,... usually because nobody's listening anyway because the writer already as a reputation as being a loudmouth that speaks with a forked tongue... so to speak.

I -could- have refuted just about every single statement in that piece with documented fact but I tend to run off at the keyboard and I thought giving the links might be better. I think you sound a bit too confrontational. For example, beginning your response with "I suggest you do some research on your own before you send out stuff like this in the future" infers that her opinion is based on ignorance rather than what may be her honest opinion. Not a very good opening tone, in my opinion.
If you would turn it more on "this is where I, myself, look for my information" rather than this is where YOU ought to be looking then I think she may be more receptive.

I think I would have to know more about your daugher in law to pass any judgement on her. That said, sadly, I don't know if it matters what "tone" you use with some of these people. Through various aquaintances, I have recieved many of these emails, and no matter how you respond to them they seem eager to drink the KoolAid. This is just the "candy everybody wants" to consume, and I believe the fact they sometimes send it to liberal friends just means they wish to convert you, but they won't budge on their end.

Ask the writer to support his or her statements....how does anyone KNOW that Barack Obama did not have loans or what have you to attend Harvard Law (and why would some rogue state or group, as we're asked to believe, work for the overthrow of the U.S. by sending someone to Harvard Law, then "plant" him at a law firm in Chicago and the University of Chicago for a decade)? As to campaign fundraising, he's been doing just as much of that as anyone else, especially while he was still campaigning against Hillary Clinton (note that no one accused her of being a front for Iran or whoever).

A Google search will yield any number of photos of Mr. Obama's family--and Sarah Palin looking distinctly NOT pregnant while she was supposed to be seven months along. But of course, the audience for this sort of b.s. is not interested in actually looking. This person is aiming at the sector of the electorate which likes to keep sex in the family....and you can bet they'll turn out to vote in response to this.

Even if every word of this is true, which it obviously is not, saying that someone is bad does not automatically make someone else good. Both John McCain and Sarah Palin changed churches for political expediency, for example. In Palin's case, her "old" church was one of those "charismatic" congregations where people pray while giving the Nazi salute and speak in tongues while rolling on the floor, etc. I suppose a speech from the White House "in tongues" might be entertaining at least....and wouldn't be any more worthless than the drivel we get now.

The largest political rally in the history of Alaska took place a few days ago--AGAINST Sarah Palin. This despite the fact that a talk radio host gave out the phone numbers of the organizers on the air among other things. Where was the "liberal media" for the occasion?

I -was- going to do just that but I had to calm myself down first and by the time I did that it was late even for me. Rest assured though, it shall be done. In the meantime, here's something that I stole from somewhere else but it applies greatly to the whole situation:

It is far beyond the mental capacity of the intended audience of this sort of material, however, as the principal innuendo here is that Barack Obama is secretly Muslim (and of course Muslim="uncivilizable raghead terrorist"), it might be worth attempting to remind people of Article VI, section 3 of the United States Constitution, which specifies that there can be no religious test for the holding of public office. One of Minnesota's Congressional Representatives, Keith Ellison, is in fact Muslim (and...dare I say is....has dark skin) and to my knowledge is doing a fine job.

This sort of stuff really scares me. It's on a par with people who meet in darkened houses to talk about "ZOG" and "the mud races" while polishing the guns they have stockpiled in their bunkers. Except that this is being read--and very possibly believed--by a far wider segment of the American populace.

4 MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE THAT HE ACQUIRED THROUGH A 'DEAL' WITH A WEALTHY FUND RAISER, A FUND RAISER WHO APPARENTLY IS A CRIMINAL LAW BREAKER PER THE NEWS.
WHAT SORT OF 'DEAL'?

AND, RIGHT OUT OF HARVARD LAW, HE 'WORKED' AS A CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST IN CHICAGO .
WHAT KIND OF PAY IS THIS, WE CAN ASSUME IT IS LITTLE OR NOTHING PAY WISE! OR IS THERE OTHER KIND OF PAY INVOLVED??

HE THEN ENTERED POLITICS AT THE STATE LEVEL WHICH CERTAINLY IS A LOW PAYING JOB, AND THEN MOVED RIGHT TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL.
DID HE "FUND RAISE" TO GET THE FUNDS TO GET ELECTED? WHAT KIND OF PROMISES DID HE MAKE?

NOW, HE SCRAMBLES TODAY WITH A NICE SMILE BUT VERY MINIMAL EXPERIENCE IN ANYTHING - WHILE OTHER PEOPLE WRITE HIS RAH-RAH SPEECHES FOR HIM.

IN ALL HIS MINIMAL TIME IN THE STATE, AND NATIONAL LEGISLATURES - HE'S NEVER LAUNCHED ANY IMPORTANT LEGISLATION, NONE WHATSOEVER.

MOSTLY, OF LATE FOR SOME TWO YEARS, HE'S BEEN OUT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

THEN COME THE ENDORSEMENTS FOR HIM FROM OTHER COUNTRIES, ONES THAT ARE NOT EXACTLY USA FRIENDS, LIKE THE IRAN PRES, FRENCH PRES, THE IRAQ MINISTER THAT WANTS USA OUT.
HMMM WHAT DO THEY SEE IN HIM THAT THEY
LIKE?

HE CLAIMS TO BE 'PROUD OF HIS AFRICAN HERITAGE' -- NICE BUT -- IT SEEMS THAT HIS ONLY CONNECTION WITH AFRICA WAS THAT HIS AFRICAN FATHER.

GOT A WHITE AMERICAN GIRL PREGNANT AND THEN DESERTED HER. UMMM....WHERE IS THE OUTSPOKEN PRIDE IN HIS WHITE HERITAGE? AFTER ALL - IT WAS WHITE GRANDPARENTS THAT RAISED HIM!

HE IS PRESENTLY A MEMBER, OR WAS UNTIL POLITICS NECESSITATED A CHANGE, FOR OVER 20 YEARS OF AN 'AFROCENTRIC' CHURCH IN CHICAGO THAT SEEMINGLY HATES WHITES, HATES JEWS, AND BLAMES AMERICA FOR ALL THE WORLD'S FAULTS.

HE REPEATEDLY COVERED UP FOR THAT PASTOR AND THAT CHURCH - SAYING THAT HE CAN SEPARATE THE RELIGION FROM THE POLITICS, WHEN HE HEARS A HATE-WHITEY SERMON.

HE CLAIMED THAT HE WAS SIMPLY UNABLE TO CONFRONT HIS PASTOR OF 20+ YEARS ABOUT THE PASTOR'S DEMONSTRATED UN-AMERICAN BIAS.

BUT -- HE WANTS US TO BELIEVE THAT HE CAN CONFRONT NORTH KOREA AND IRAN AND RUSSIA WHEN THE TIME ARISES TO TAKE AMERICA 'S SIDE.

YEAH - WITH HIS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE, HE 'HOPES' THAT HE COULD BE A "UNITER" AND BRING US ALL TOGETHER;
BUT - WE ARE LEFT TO THINK THAT THE REAL 'HOPE' IS, THAT HE REALLY HOPES THAT NO ONE WILL PUT ALL THESE PIECES TOGETHER, AT LEAST NOT UNTIL AFTER THE ELECTION.

Did I go easy enough on her but still get the point across? In an email almost immediately after I sent my reply I sent her a link to another independent information resource, 'The Public Record' at http://www.pubrecord.org/ with their statement at http://www.pubrecord.org/about.html I'm hoping she'll actually use them before she sends out any more of this stuff.

Again, I missed this yesterday, but great reply, Paul, and does this person actually LIKE shouting....er spamming? Again, another one to laugh at. I shall send this to Jeeney, whether I print it off for her or just send her the link depends on how quickly she gets back online.

I've had the same email sent to me. Do not get me started on this email, because I will use every swear word known to mankind to the creature that came up with it.

Don't get me wrong: I admit I voted for Hilary because I'm an Illinois resident and haven't scene too much of his work at least downstate (it seems like Chicago gets it all and the rest of the state is left licking the plate). However, pit him against McCain, and well you know where my vote is going.

Well, Paul, I'm afraid I don't think you have gone easy enough on her. I have a son-in-law and I also understand that balance that one tries to stay true to ones'self and keep the peace.
I think you sound a bit too confrontational. For example, beginning your response with "I suggest you do some research on your own before you send out stuff like this in the future" infers that her opinion is based on ignorance rather than what may be her honest opinion. Not a very good opening tone, in my opinion.
If you would turn it more on "this is where I, myself, look for my information" rather than this is where YOU ought to be looking then I think she may be more receptive.
Okay, Paul, since you asked an opinion then there is mine...hope it doesn't offend.
Not offended in the least - BUT..... my -intention- with the stated subject "Pick this to death - PLEASE!" was directed more to the piece my daughter-in-law forwarded to me rather than what I sent back in reply. As I've already said before, I toned it way down from what it originally started as by rewriting the thing 5 or 6 times. With things like this I think it's not something to take lightly and "be nice" with. Just my opinion and the opinion of others may vary but.....
