As always, loved seeing Janis on her latest tour in the UK - saw her at The Lowry, Salford.

Gave her Nick Drake's first album as a gift - do other rudies know Nick's work?

I only came across him last year but am very moved by the realness of his music. Recorded only three albums, was pretty much unknown and unappreciated - died young - possibly suicide. Sounds miserable but his music is so fresh/vibrant. 'Fruit Tree' on 'Five Leaves Left' reminds me so much of 'Stars' - talking of the value of fame and it potentially coming later (as it did for him).

Hi Roger, I love his strange tunings... did the CD you gave Janis have Pink Moon on it?? Great song. He was waaaaay before his time. :)

No - its a track I've been told about previously - must download it.

It was his first album 'Five leaves left' that I gave to Janis. He is an original, like Janis.:)

I came across Nick's work from the film, "The Royal Tenenbaums". I think a good intro. to Drake is "Way To Blue". I love "cello song". It's shocking upon familiarizing yourself to his work, just how many people have never heard of him.
