I was just listening to a Billie Bones cd as I was going to my dreaded work. I was thinking how this was my most favorite cd right now. Listening to the songs my favorites are: 'When i Lay Down", it makes me think about how truthful or not I have been in my life. "Dead Men Walking", i'm still trying to figure it out..."I am afraid to ask to much and disappear' "Paris in your eyes", just so romantic, and "I hear you sing again" makes me tear up every time...think of my mother as well as others that I have been close to. I am sure it has been asked before but wondering if anyone had any favorites and why are they your favorites?

from billie's bones?
marching on glasgow
i hear you sing again
forever young
mathew

dang it's hard to pick just one or two, it's such a great album. now why are they favorites? the guitar work of marching on glasgow, long story about i hear you sing again, forever young just tears my heart out as does mathew. the whole album is so caefully crafted, so well designed, such a beautiful painting with words and music and heart, it's fresh and quiet and speaks loud and clear.

We once had a thread about "Dead Men Walking" on here, must have been last year, but haven't found it yet.

Picking my favorite Janis Ian song would be about as easy as counting the stars... but for the past few years "Day by Day" from Night Rains pretty much rips my guts out. How does she know exactly how I feel, and how truly and deeply one can love?

If it's Billie's Bones we're talking about, I haven't GOT a favourite as I love them all. Perhaps I hear you sing again or Matthew, but WOW what an Album :)

I, too, have many past and present "favorites." But my forever favorite has not been written yet.

I am listening to BOJI right now. It's the first chance I've had to hear it properly (I only had ear buds and my computer up to now). I am now playing it on my Bang and Olufson and it is just s-o-o-o-o good. My absolute favourite - Silly Habits - sounds fantastic. Billies Bones is still up there though. But BOJI really envokes tears. Mind you my emotions are pretty raw at the moment, and I miss all of you.

PS Why is this in the zoo?

It depends on a lot of things what my favourite of the moment is. Some songs that I always come back to are:

Searching for America
Matthew
Here comes the night
Love is blind
Silly habits
Ruby
Passion play
Watercolours

And about 30 others

i just wrote out a list of songs that i would love to have Janis play at an LRC if i were to ever have one. i allowed myself just one song per album ( but on some i just had to choose 2) I have a list of 40 songs...do ya think Janis would do that many? huh? just kiddin, i wouldn't ask her to. now had i allowed myself as many songs per album as i wanted, i;m sure there would be somewhere around 400. i just can;t pick favorites, they are all so danged good!
