Here's a fun little poem I finished yesterday.
Oh, and this is a real spider.
Bolas Spider
Hanging upside down
by two of her eight legs
like a trick rider,
she fastens the sticky orb
onto a silk thread,
lets it dangle
ready to whirl
at moths out for romance.
Her masquerade of pheremones
lures one close.
She swings the weighted length
in quick circles,
snares Romeo's wings
and reels him in for the night.
If she could,
she would lasso a hornet to ride,
chase after her quarry
like a gaucho
racing across the plains.
Oh, and this is a real spider.

Hanging upside down
by two of her eight legs
like a trick rider,
she fastens the sticky orb

She swings the weighted length
in quick circles,

and reels him in for the night.
If she could,
she would lasso a hornet to ride,
chase after her quarry
like a gaucho
racing across the plains.
